While we’re hearing so much about Apple’s new iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, both impressive smartphones, it seems a shame to overlook others such as the Xperia acro S. First off there’s the 1.5GHz dual-core processor then it also has a 4.3-inch display with resolution of 1280 x 720, 16GB of internal memory (expandable with microSD to 32GB), 12-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video capture, a 1.3-megapixel front-facer, NFC, Bluetooth and of course the 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
Another extra that doesn’t feature on some of the best smartphones of the moment is that the Xperia acro S has IP57 certification. That means it is waterproof up to 1 meter and 30 minutes, something that the more careless among us will appreciate, and it’s also dust resistant. I do own the Acro S since 4 weeks now. It is really a very nice phone. But it DOES NOT HAVE the 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, but ICS (4.0.4). Do you anything about an update?
I’ve had a little play with this phone in the shop.
It feels nice and sturdy. Its not too big like the new batch of Samsung and HTC phones which is a refreshing change and its quite light.
For me the screen is wonderful! It’s bright and has top notch photos even in low light. It does have a 12 mp camera so I suppose you’d expect that.
Not too sure how the little “hatches” on the top for the charging, HDMI out etc will stand up and you need a sharp fingernail to open them up but otherwise it’s a good looking phone.
The one I looked at was using android 4.0 so don’t know about any update.
All in all I liked it!
