FIFA 13 football app for iPhone available, player reviews

At last millions of fans of the EA Sports FIFA game franchise around the world are snapping up copies of FIFA 13, or just about to get their hands on it. Just released in the US and due out in the UK on Friday for consoles, the game has also become available in iOS app form for mobile devices and already looks set to be a smash hit. Today we want to detail the FIFA 13 football app for iPhone and hear your player reviews.

If your house is anything like mine there have been eager voices for the last few weeks/months saying they can’t wait for FIFA 13 and literally counting down the days to release. FIFA Soccer 13 by EA Sports is now ready in the App Store priced at £4.99 / $6.99. That’s not cheap for a game but this is one complex app and anyone who’s a fan of the FIFA games is bound to get plenty of use out of it. It’s compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad running iOS 4.0 or later and has been optimized for iPhone 5. The App Store download link is here.

This authentic football game is touted by Apple as being “more realistic than ever,” and has impressive graphics and responsive controls. Features include a new Skill Move button with swipe gestures, full touch control, the ability to challenge your friends with Online Multiplayer and also share your best moments from Instant Replay. There are also Quick Match, Manager and Tournament Game modes. As well as this the EA Sports Football Club connects you to real football competitions, allows you to support your favorite club and share your enthusiasm for the sport with gamers across the world.

FIFA 13 for iOS features 30 leagues, 32 stadiums across the world, 500 teams and more than 15,000 players so there really should be something for everyone. We’d like to hear what you think about FIFA 13 for iOS so far though. A few customer reviews showing on the App Store FIFA 13 page are currently giving rather low reviews with some comments saying it ‘s not working properly on the new iPad (iPad 3) so we’d like to hear your experiences and thoughts about the app.

Have you already downloaded the iOS FIFA 13 app and if so are you really happy to be able to play the game at last? Maybe you’ve noticed some glitches or aspects you’re not happy with, or problems if you’re trying to use it on the latest iPad (as above)? We’d really like to hear all your player reviews so send us your comments about FIFA 13 for iOS and share your thoughts with other fans.

I have the new iPad and downloaded Fifa13 last night. Having downloaded Fifa 12 when it was on sale, for about 50p, I thought £4.99 was a bit steep! So I bit the bullet and downloaded anyway and have had nothing but sheer frustration since!

The problem I am having is that the menu will load up, I can see the options for Manager Mode or Tournament etc, however the menu does not register where you have pressed your finger! So you can’t go any further than the menu screen.

It’s almost like it’s been miss-calibrated, because occasionally you press somewhere and you get to the Origin sign-in screen or can find your way to the manager mode screen (by clicking about an inch about and 3 inches to the left of the manager mode button) but then you can’t select a team or click on the tick on the bottom left to actually start anything.

So I’ve been trying different things for hours, turned off the iPad and back on again (just in case) and even uninstalled and re-installed the app… nothing… this game simpnly does not work on the new iPad.

That happened to me as well. The reason in that the iPad is upside down. Turn in around and see if u still face the same problem. The volume buttom should be on the top part of the iPad and the menu button to the right.

        Hi Lamis,

Yep, that seems to get things going, very strange but turning the screen 180 seemed to do the trick – thanks for that.

Also, since update that problem seems to have gone away anyway!

So… played for about an hour, pretty good so far. Graphics much the same as Fifa 12 on iPad, seem to have more control over what happens on the pitch and more space to get past defenders etc. Just a shame that Arsenal now have an absolutely rubbish team, better get that scout out – any recommendations on where to find good strikers please!

Loved Fifa 12 so downloaded Fifa 13 straight away on my ‘new’ iPad.

    First thoughts:
It’s a massive improvement graphically. I was sceptical over how big an upgrade it would be but it really is a noticeable difference. Don’t expect it to touch the console versions though, as they’re still a few notches above.

The controls are smoother now and there’s better ball control, where you can control the direction of your dribbles. This alone is a big improvement.

The downsides are that the character models still use low fidelity textures, so not much (if any) improvement here. There’s also not as much improvement on the animations, which seem to be the same as last years. This leads to a lot of ‘familiarity’ with FIFA 12, which clearly shows that the devs just applied a few licks of paint (and pixels) to this new version rather than adding more functionality.

The commentary is also disappointing as there’s not much variation from FIFA 12.

All in all, I’d recommend it if you’re a BIG fifa fan that loves playing on the move. Otherwise get the console version of stick to FIFA 12.

Lastly, I’ve had no probs on my iPad 3 – working perfectly.

  3. I have been playing the manager mode for the last three hours, I have tried to buy 32 players either by paying for them or requesting them on loan with only one sale being successful all the others have been rejected, seems to be very buggy.

yeah, I had that same problem, I was playing with Málaga and I bought some young lower tier players for my bench as I wanted them for their growth and after 3 games of offering and offering, they didn’t want to get on my team, I’m even having that problem sometimes when using the better teams, I hope it’s a bug, because it sucks not being able to buy many good players

Love Fifa 12 except for the far camera view on first replay after a goal, and sometimes the player doesn’t move. I’m interested to hear what people say before I spend the $6.99, when 2012 is still plenty fun.

    1. tunness says:

Hi, please I am having this problem too as it keep reverting back to the games ive played. I deleted it and re-installed and again its started now and will not save any games and keeps going back to the FA cup that has been played about 4 games back. Any solutions please?

  5. Kevin says:

In career mode, FIFA 13 on my iphone keeps reverting back to games already played. Had to keep replaying a Capitol One Cup game in September 2012

Mine works perfectly on my ipad 3. I love what they done with the controlls. You can perform most actions ie.through ball, passing, skills with ease. That was very innovative. More could have been done with the graphics. The new ipad has potential to deliver realistic hd graphics as is proven by games such as infinity blade, skygamblers air supremecy and real racing hd, so I dont think ea took full advantage of the A5 chip. Overall though the graphics are not bad but could be better, the pitch looks great but the players average and some look like only one layer was applied. All in all though I think it is a great game and it has me addicted to it.

My son loves the app but suddenly the players have gone really small. We have tried every display options setting but can’t get them bigger again . Any ideas ? Thanks

  8. B says:

I’ve tried to purchase players in career mode, but they never show up in my reserves! I can manage their contracts, but when I try to add them to my starting line-up, they are no where to be found in the substitutes or reserves. I’m down to no reserves because I had traded a few players away. Very frustrating!
