BlackBerry 10 App World, RIM finally wakes up

Much has been made in recent months of the continuing problems affecting BlackBerry maker RIM, but the company is planning a fight back as it looks to regain some of the ground lost to rival operating systems. The upcoming BlackBerry 10 operating system will arguably make or break RIM, who at last finally wakes up with regards to its App World offering.

The BlackBerry 10 operating system has been in the news quite a bit over the last few days as the company is busy revealing more details about it, and with the new software the company will be giving BlackBerry App World a fresh new look. Now though according to CrackBerry it won’t be only cosmetic changes coming to the application store, as there will be some new categories added as well.

RIM have been pushing out BlackBerry ID along with carrier billing on a bigger scale recently, and the good news for users is that both music and movies will be added to apps and games for BlackBerry App World in the new operating system.

So to go hand in hand with the new BlackBerry 10 handsets that will be available users will be able to relax and watch a movie on their new smartphone, which will be available to purchase or rent. If music is more your thing you will now have access to tracks that can be purchased.

All of these new services will come under the BlackBerry App World shop front so users will find it easier to find the content they are looking for, and to then purchase it along with having it linked to their BlackBerry ID. Keeping all of the content in one store will give the new service an ecosystem feel, and bodes well for the future of the platform.

Event better for consumers will be another worthy option when choosing a smartphone platform, as long as the hardware matches the promise of the software. Are you pleased to hear that the BlackBerry App World will offer such content?
