Nexus 10 vs iPad 4, the holiday showdown threat
The holiday buying season is almost upon us, and there will be many no doubt looking at picking up a new tech device, and when it comes to tablets there are two new slates to consider, the Apple iPad 4, and the new Samsung Nexus 10, and no doubt both these slates will go face to face in the run up to Christmas, but which tablet offers the most?
So what we have for our readers consideration below is a showdown between the Samsung Nexus 10 and the Apple iPad 4 that was brought to our attention by Droid-life and Gizmag who pitted both devices against each other in a comparison.
Firstly we say holiday showdown threat because these two slates will no doubt go up against each other come Christmas, but let us make it clear that we are not saying the Nexus 10 by Samsung will out do the iPad 4, but it is a worthy comparison nevertheless, so let’s get right to it and kick things off with the display.
The Nexus 10 offers the user a 10-inch WQXGA at 2560 x 1600 with 300ppi, whilst the iPad 4 sports a 9.7-inch IPS LED 2048 x 1536 with 264ppi, which means the Nexus 10 has a sharper display than the iPad 4. When it comes to RAM, the Nexus 10 has 2GB whilst the iPad 4 has 1GB, again another win to Samsung.
Then there are the cameras, and whilst both slates sport a 5 megapixel rear facing snapper, when it comes to the front facing camera the Samsung Nexus 10 sports a 1.9 megapixel camera whilst the Apple iPad 4 has a 1.2 megapixel snapper.
Internal storage wise the iPad 4 offers 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB whilst the Nexus 10 offers 16GB and 32GB only so one up for the iPad 4, whilst both devices sport a dual core processor, the iPad 4 with its A6X processor and the Nexus 4 with its Exynos 5 A15 processor.
Size wise the iPad 4 measures 9.5 x 7.31 x 0.37-inches with a weight of 1.44 pounds whilst the Nexus 4 measures 10.39 x 6.99 x 0.35-inches with a weight of 1.32 pounds, so despite being bigger the Nexus 10 weight less.
Connectivity wise the iPad 4 wins out with WiFi, 3G and 4G connectivity whilst the Nexus 10 is only WiFi, but does offer NFC functionality whereas the iPad 4 doesn’t, and then there is the battery, with the iPad 4 sporting a 11666mAh battery while the Nexus 10 has a 9000mAh battery, so the iPad 4 does well in this area as well.
Now onto the pricing of the tablets, The Samsung Nexus 10 WiFi commands a price tag of 399-bucks and 499-bucks, whilst the Apple iPad 4 WiFi commands 499-bucks, 599-bucks and 699-bucks, whilst the data versions cost 629-bucks, 729-bucks and 829-bucks.
So there you have it a comparison between the Samsung Nexus 10 and the Apple iPad 4, but can the Nexus 4 do well against the iPad 4 in the run up to Christmas, well that probably depends on personal preference, what you can afford, and of course whether you prefer Android Jelly Bean or iOS 6.

No doubt Android Jelly Bean with Nexus 10 will outrun iPad4 which lacks many features like Flash Player, YouTube, Google Maps, Stylus Pen, NFC and much more!!!
Flash isn’t included since android 4.1. Youtube can be accessed by safari, google maps on iOS doesn’t have turn by turn, but now it has, stylus? Ew, NFC? Too slow for now, and not many places have adopted it.
I would most definitely go with any nexus device any day but it is really nice to see an Apple user back their reasoning up with facts

flash isn’t included but you can still download the app, im running flash on both my jelly bean device’s. NFC is too slow and non adopted ? Windows phones/tablets and Android phones/tablets are all using NFC, most major company’s like Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, Google, LG, Acer, Asus, HTC, Microsoft, etc… are all pushing out NFC devices and accessories. and NFC isnt slow it can send files at about 300 mb/s which is 200x faster than the stone age Bluetooth iPhone still uses, Its funny how Apple users claim everything is insignificant until they get the feature and start raving about it like 4g LTE.
well yes but at least apple aren’t stupid enough to release a battery draining feature before it’s even necessary
Lol no whose stupid are the apple users who start commenting on technology they know nothing about, NFC works at a lower frequencies than Bluetooth, in other words it wastes less battery than Bluetooth, around 13 mhz compared to Bluetooth at 2.4-2.7 ghz. You guys are just trying to justify why apple dint include NFC in their new phone with a bunch of comments that make no sense but the truth is they dint include it so they can sucker you into buying another iPhone in 6-7 months with the feature and charge you 700-800 dollars for it. I have a 1 year old Galaxy Nexus which was released same time as the 4S and i have all the iPhone 5 features and most of the new features this years new high end phones have, yet the 4S is lacking on everything.

In terms of total size nexus 10 is smaller isn’t it? 9.5 x 7.31 x 0.37=25.69465 inches^3 while 10.39 x 6.99 x 0.35=25.419135 inches^3, right?
The review doesnt mention any of the additiona and useful connectivity features like microUSB, micro HDMI for the Nexus 10 (wish it had the microSD though)
Nexus 10 – prefer the android ecosystem, I can easily run avi files for movie’s etc which is my main use for tables and also share them via my WD player connected to my TV, that and the internet of course.
My asus TF300 just broke down due too much abuse from my two kids. The Ipad 2 I do have in the house are only used as a last resort. I’m buying a Nexus 10 for Xmas. The Chrome browser works wonder on the Androids tablets. Kick a** over the Apple Safari.
