DC Comic books available via Nook, Kindle and iOS Stores

In the last few years we have seen a growth of eReaders as consumers look to buy content digitally instead of the old fashioned way. This has led to some sales of physical media dropping away and now we have news of DC Comic books that are being made available via the Nook, Kindle and iOS Stores.

Comic book publisher DC Comics has officially announced new deals with the three major digital book retailers, Amazon, Apple, and Barnes & Nobile which will see its popular monthly titles being added to their online stores.

The publisher already has a catalogue of eBook versions of its graphic novels available on the same online stores, but this deal will see for the first time the release of regular titles available for purchase outside of a dedicated app.

This new digital availability will bring bestselling titles from DC Comics and Vertigo such as Batgirl, Superman, Detective Comics, American Vampire, Green Lantern, Batman, and many more to a larger range of eReaders.

Sales of the publishers print editions are still selling well though but this move will bring its titles to an even wider audience, and according to Jim Lee of DC Entertainment the company is “very excited to work with Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble”.

The new deal means that DC Entertainment is the only comic book publisher that offers its titles on all major eBookstore platforms, and comes after the company made the decision to launch DC Comics-The New 52 back in September 2011.

This move was seen as giving the comic book industry a much needed boost and Lee added that the company was “first to offer our entire comic book line same-day digital and now we are the first to offer fans the convenience of multiple download options”.
