Samsung Galaxy S3 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update promised soon

The Samsung Galaxy S3 remains one of the most popular smartphones currently available to consumers, with the handset launching with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system back in the summer. More recently this has been updated for owners in certain regions, but now the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update has been promised to release for the device soon.

According to an article over on SamsMobile the Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy S3 is almost ready, and according to sources it will be first made available sometime during December. It is again being claimed that the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update will bring the Multi-View application to the handset, and is the popular feature that is already available on the Galaxy Note 2.

It is also being claimed that this feature will be added to the original Galaxy Note when it finally gets the Android 4.1.2 update as well. The first batch of Galaxy S3 handsets to receive the Jelly Bean software update got the new operating system a few weeks ago now, but unfortunately there are many users still waiting for it to arrive.

Even in the UK where many owners have been enjoying the new operating system for a couple of weeks, some users on the Orange and T-Mobile networks have been left frustrated at the continued wait. Meanwhile owners of the various versions of the smartphone in the US are still left wondering when the update to Jelly Bean will take place.

Previously there were rumours that it may arrive sometime this week on AT&T, and more recently we heard of a leaked ROM emerging for the Verizon version of the handset that could possibly mean a release was imminent. As with any new software update on the Android platform the various carriers can hold the release of new software up and some are a lot worse than others.

Are you tired of waiting for Jelly Bean on your Galaxy S3?

Glad I rooted my phone and I’m already on 4.1.2. The US carriers SUCK and they make the phone manufacturers look bad because people tend to blame Samsung when in fact it’s the carriers fault!

???Seriously??? Been out on unlocked for weeks now. I know it sounds daft but first check your settings to ensure your not already on it somehow (looking for version 4.1.1). if it is still showing 4.0 then connect it via a usb cable to a computer and download samsung kies. Took about 40 minutes job done. Takes a little work and setting up though to get 4.1.1 features set up, like google now etc, but feels faster. smoother and also for the sake of google now I now have GPS, WIFI, Mobile data etc turned on all day and the battery lasts from about 07:30 to about 12:30 (midnight the next day) awesome battery life if you ask me.

received 4.1.1 two days ago. but i feel this is lazy than previous in some moments. there is not a much change in it visibly. what is ur experience the one’s who are using 4.1.1 ???

I am on Verizon and I installed the leaked 4.1.1 ROM. This ROM seems pretty mature and I have not run into any bugs. The GS3 is easy to root and even easier to unlock the bootloader. If you are on Verizon and want JB, you should consider doing it yourself. I wish updating would be taken away from the carriers. Apple updates the iPhone by skipping the carrier, why can’t Android???

  4. All of Sprint Galaxy SIII’s DO NOT have Jellybean. I am on Sprint and here it is 2.5 weeks after the start of updating I still don’t have it. They said it could take between October 25th to November 16th to update everyone and it is not necessarily the carriers either. They have to work with the OS to customize it but it is Google that randomly chooses serial numbers to update. I am frustrated as hell.

I am totally fed up with TMobile UK I called them this morning to find that even they do not know when Jelly Bean is going to be made available. I just to add to the frustration Samsung confirmed that TMobile customise branded handets and remove the software update facility for OTA updates and to use Kies. Kies on the otherhands reports no new firmware is available.

Orange UK are exactly the same, first of all, the reply was we have checked the Samsung website and this update hasnt been released yet, which is a load of rubbish, as I just linked them to one of these pages lol, and the latest is, the update is in testing and will be available soon, the same thing I was told 5 weeks ago, and now the 4.1.2 update will soon be ready and we dont even have 4.1.1 yet, its an absolute joke 🙁

Hope, that Samsung will fix WiFi disconnection problems with official 4.1.2 firmware. Those disconnections and signal drops with WPA/WPA2 routers is making us mad (we has 4 S3 devices here). Initial 4.0.3 hasn’t WiFi problems.

So my Orange phone will soon be two versions late? That’s TWO versions!!! I am not even a phone-freak but I can recognise slow service. No excuse. Everyone I know who is not with Orange Is fully updated.
