Kobo Arc Android tablet arrives in UK, Canada, and France

If you happen to be after a 7-inch Android tablet this festive season, and your favourite pastime is reading eBooks, then you might like to consider the Kobo Arc Android tablet, which the company has now made available to purchase from certain retailers in the United Kingdom, Canada and France.

The Kobo Arc features a 7-inch 1280 x 800 resolution touch screen with 215ppi, along with a 1.5GHz OMAP 4470 dual core processor running the show, and runs a customised version of the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

According to Android Community, the company has said they are working on an Android Jelly Bean update for the Kobo Arc tablet, however have not said just when that update would likely be push to the slate.

The Kobo Arc also offers a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera, although there is not rear facing snapper, and whilst the OS is a customised version, the user still gains access to Google Play to download whichever Android apps they wish.

The Arc is also a WiFi only slate and there are no data plans available, but does come with front facing speakers aboard, along with being fairly lightweight at 364 grams.

As for pricing for the Kobo Arc, the 16GB slate commands a price tag of $199.99, the 32GB version has a price tag of $249.99, and the 64GB model costs $299.99, and is available in both black or white versions at various retailers in all three countries.

On checking, in the United Kingdom, WHSmith have the 16GB Kobo Arc up for sale at £159.99, whilst the 32GB goes for £189.99, but no sign of a 64GB model.
