Sharp Aquos SH930W review disappoints

It appears that HTC isn’t the only one dishing out full HD display smartphones, as word is Sharp also has a 5-inch full HD screen handset in the works called the Sharp Aquos SH930W, which is apparently destined to hit Russia first rather that Japan. And the Sharp Aquos SH930W has now been given a preliminary review.

The guys over at Russian website, Mobile Review managed to get hold of a pre-release Sharp Aquos SH930W and gave the Android smartphone the once over, and we now know that the handset sports a 5-inch touch screen with full HD resolution along with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, but sports a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S3 dual core processor, thus scaling back from the 1.5GHz quad core processor in the HTC Droid DNA.

The Sharp Aquos SH930W uses the Sharp IGZO display with 440ppi, and runs vanilla Android rather than the expected Feel UX, so might have some buggy code., which a recent benchmark found by GSM Arena seems to suggest. According to the benchmark the GPU in the Sharp Aquos SH930W isn’t powerful enough to run heavy 3D games at native resolution and only manages 13.6fps.

The Sharp smartphone sports an 8 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash, 1080p video, and a 2 megapixel front facing camera, measures 139.4 x 72 x 8.9mm with a weight of 114 grams, and packs a 2100mAh battery. The device also sports 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory, but does lack any microSD expansion; however the smartphone does come running Android Jelly Bean 4.1.

Considering the other high end smartphones out there the Sharp Aquos SH930W might be somewhat disappointing for some due to that benchmark, but whoever purchase the device will probably buy it for the camera and good battery.

As for when the Sharp Aquos SH930W is expected to becomes available in Russia, the handset should hit sometime later this month, and commands a price tag of 22000 rubles without contract, which is roughly $694.

  1. i don’t know what phone you guys are talking about but the

Sharp Aquos SH930W has a MicroSD card slot and is selling for about $400-$450 right now.

Seems as long as you don’t play spec heavy games this is a pretty sweet phone, the funny thing is it has 2GB of RAM which is what you would need for said games.
