HTC One X+ touches down in US and Canada

Smartphones have evolved greatly in recent times with dual core handsets quickly superseded by quad core power plants inside our mobile phones. HTC was one of the first out of the blocks with such a device and brought us the HTC One X that made its debut earlier this year at the MWC event, now an improved version the HTC One X+ touches down in the US and Canada.

HTC may be experiencing falling sales recently but the company is still capable of releasing some great handsets, and the One X+ is certainly continuing this trend and is now available in the US on AT&T. The device is based on the original One X but with some bumped specs and is available on the carrier for $199.99 with a new two year contract.

The device has the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core processor clocked at 1.7GHz under the hood coupled with 1GB of RAM, and comes running the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. It has a 4.7-inch SuperLCD 2 touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and comes in either 32GB or 64GB storage options.

Camera wise you are provided with an eight megapixel rear shooter with auto focus and LED flash, while around the front is a 1.6 megapixel camera for video calls, providing the power is a 2,100 mAh battery unit, and all this tech is squeezed into a form factor measuring 134mm x 69.9mm x 8.9mm and weighing only 135 grams.

Meanwhile consumers in Canada that are customers of TELUS can also get access to the HTC One X+ for only $129.99 on condition of agreeing a new three year contract. The availability of the HTC One X+ further muddies the waters for customers of the carriers looking for a new smartphone in the run up to Christmas, but it’s always a winning situation for consumers having more choice.

Are you getting a new smartphone soon and if so which one?
