HTC Titan 3 aka Zenith typo or real mystery

If you happen to be an Xbox user and receive the monthly survey conducted by Xbox Live Rewards, you might have noticed that the survey for December asks the question how excited you would be if you received a certain smartphone as a gift. The survey then goes on to list a few devices including a device that is somewhat of a mystery.

According to a report by WPcentral, those listed smartphones include the Samsung Galaxy S3, Nokia Lumia 920, Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD, the iPhone 5 and one other device called the HTC Titan 3. You read right, not the HTC Titan 2 but the HTC Titan 3.

You might know the HTC Titan 3 as the HTC Zenith, which was leaked back in June, and is said to be HTC’s third flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone, with specs for the device rumoured to be a 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 touch screen handset with a 1.5GHz quad core processor, 1GB of RAM, NFC and an 8 megapixel camera, and HSPA+.

However since back then we haven’t heard anything on the Zenith/HTC Titan 3 until this survey, so it is a bit of a mystery as to whether the Titan 3 is about to come to market or not, or whether it is simply a typo.

The HTC Zenith was leaked along with a couple of other devices, the HTC Accord, which we now know as the HTC Windows Phone 8S, and the HTC Rio, which of course is the HTC Windows Phone 8X, and the rumour was the Zenith would arrive in Q4.

We haven’t heard anything about the Zenith/Titan 3, since that first rumour, which leads one to believe that perhaps the inclusion of the smartphone in the survey is down to a typo, as they may have meant the HTC Titan 2.

Having said that, if the HTC Titan 3 is almost ready to go, it will no doubt miss that Q4 slot, but there’s no reason why HTC can’t unveil the device at CES 2013 just like the HTC Titan 2 did at last year’s show, making it a one year refresh of the device.

It’s certainly a mystery because all the other smartphones listed in that survey are available, so why include a device that isn’t. So perhaps they know something everyone else doesn’t, and that HTC will be delivering the Titan 3 at some point in the near future.

However one does have to consider that the first option in the survey is ‘I already own this’, which to me suggests that the HTC Titan III is a typo, simply because the device isn’t available.

So what do our readers think about all this, is it simply down to a typing error or do you think the HTC Titan 3 is on its way for real?
