Nexus 7 vs Nextbook 7 Premium SE Android GP Tablet

The smaller tablet market has got increasingly more crowded in the last few months especially on the Android platform, and this has been largely led by the popular Google Nexus 7 manufactured by Asus. There are a number of other seven inch devices available though that include the recently launched Nextbook 7 Premium SE Android GP tablet, which we are today comparing with the Nexus 7.

There seems to be many consumers now favouring the smaller seven inch tablet size that is more comfortable in the hand for prolonged lengths of time, and this is where a lot of competition lies with the Nexus 7 seemingly being the most popular device for the time being.

Processor and Power
The Nexus 7 is powered by the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core chip that is clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM, while the Nextbook has a Amlogic A9 1GHz processor of unknown cores that is coupled with 1GB of DDR3 RAM under the hood.

Display
The Nexus 7 wins out again here with its 7-inch display that offers a resolution of 800 x 1280, while the Nextbook has a 7-inch screen offering 800×480 resolution.

Storage
This round arguably goes to the Nextbook that comes in either 4GB or 8GB of on board storage that is expandable by up to a further 32GB via the microSD card port, while the Nexus 7 now comes in either 16GB or 32GB flavours that is not expandable further.

Dimensions and Weight
The Nexus 7 measures in at 198.5mm x 120mm x 10.45mm weighing 340g for the 32GB+3G model, while the Nextbook measures 203mm x 153mm x 11.2 but the company doesn’t list the weight of the device on its website.

Operating System
The Nextbook is currently shipping running the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, while the Nexus 7 is currently running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Pricing
The Nexus 7 is priced at $199 for the 16GB model while the 32GB version will set you back $249 of your hard earned cash, and the Nextbook Premium 7SE-GP has a recommended retail price of $129.99 for the 4GB model, while the 8GB version is priced at $149.99.

The Nexus 7 has arguably the better specifications of the two devices but the Nextbook looks to be the perfect device for those on a tighter budget, and it also allows users to expand the memory via a microSD card, which is something many Nexus 7 owners would love.
