It’s been roughly a year since the mobile space first heard about the gaming orientated tablet from Razer called Project Fiona, and now the gaming slate is available for you to register your interest, although the tablet is no longer known as Project Fiona but is now called the Razer Edge Pro, and is a 10.1-inch slate sporting non-removable side controllers.

The Windows 8 gaming tablet, according to The Verge there are two versions of the Edge slate, a standard model that sports 4GB of RAM along with 64GB or 128GB solid state drive, and an Intel Core i5 processor. Whilst the Razer Edge Pro version offers 8GB of RAM along with 128GB or 256GB space and an Intel Core i7 processor and a 2 megapixel front facing camera.

Both version of the gaming tablet come with NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE graphics, which is apparently enough to play most current games and Razer says that at default settings you will get an impressive 59 fps for Dishonoured, however titles that are graphic intensive will tax it somewhat.

Size and weight wise the Razer Edge tablet weight 2-pounds like the Microsoft Surface although is roughly a quarter of an inch thicker than the Surface and double that of the iPad, whilst the Edge is 0.8-inches thick.

There are also three separate peripherals for the Windows 8 gaming slate, a stand, a keyboard, and a case with games controllers, and there is even an extended battery that is sold separately that apparently delivers up to 8-hours of life when used as a tablet and between 2 and 4-hours when used as a gaming slate.

However if you are a gamer and would like to own either of these new gaming tablets, the base version of Razer Edge commands a hefty price tag of $999 and that base price doesn’t include any peripherals. It isn’t know just how high the upper limit is, but Razer intimates it could be somewhere between a whopping $1299 and $1499. Apparently one bundle will include the Razer Edge Pro tablet along with the case, but you would still have to purchase the stand and keyboard as separate items.
