Verizon Galaxy S3 JB 4.1.2 update gets OK, no Premium Suite

#

The ongoing updating of the Samsung Galaxy S3 to the Android Jelly Bean operating system has been going on for a number of months now, and most recently the device has been receiving the 4.1.2 version of the operating system. Today we have news that Verizon has given the OK to a Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy S3, but there is no Premium Suite coming with the new software.

Last month the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update leaked for Verizon and didn’t feature the Premium Suite of features, and recently more users in the US on other carriers have been receiving the new firmware that also lacked the package.

Verizon has now posted information regarding the Android 4.1.2 update on its website as it has been cleared for release, and should be rolling out shortly but there is no information about Premium Suite in the changelog.

There are a number of enhancements and bug fixes contained in the new firmware though that includes improvements to the predictive text, email syncing, Bluetooth, and much more. The firmware update is 150MB in size, but the lack of Premium Suite will anger many owners of the handset.

You wouldn’t have thought it was Samsung’s decision not to include the feature in the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, especially as the rest of the world have already been enjoying such things as Multi-Window for a while now, but hopefully US users will get Premium Suite in the next JB update.

The International version of the handset is set to get Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean after the launch of the Galaxy S4, but it looks like this sort of situation will be improved with the next Galaxy as benchmark tests have shown the smartphone will be using the same processor around the world.

Are you angry at the lack of Premium Suite with the Android 4.1.2 update?

Yes! I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 with MetroPCS and my phone did a software update this morning but it didn’t come with the Premium Suite features. I am angry!

Well, they figure that if you get the same updates as their upcoming phones, then you’ll get too comfortable and won’t buy their phones. That’s why a lot of peple go with Apple because they don’t have those type of issues.

that’s a ridiculous comment, apple saves OS updates for when you buy a new phone- sorry no flash, buy a new phone, no NFC buy a new phone, no upgrade to the os but wheel make the screen longer .. buy a new phone. Apples has made millions off of selling the same hardware for 7+ years with no major OS overhaul and the people keep coming back. The next Iphone add will be – here’s what everyone wants on our next device so we will cut those features in half and you;ll have to buy our next 2 phones to get what you want. On top of that you will probably have to buy a new charger attachment with in that generation of phones.

No, not mad at all. Any new improvement is a welcome change. I for one have been extremely happy with my handset since I purchased it. Normally I get really bored with my phones after maybe 8 months or so, but this phone has everything I could ever ask for. Maybe I’ll get the S4 when it comes out, but it is going to need to be a BIG improvement over my S3 to get me to change. Or I’ll just wait for the price to eventually drop on the S4 & then buy it. Either way, I agree that Samsung & Verizon SHOULD come out with their updates quicker, but seems like when they rush things, people have problems with bugs.

The future is going to have some wicked cool phones. I for one cannot wait to see what comes out!

How about having a battery with around 5000MaH so even after extreme usage in a day, you still have a good amount of charge left over? Make it thin like Motorola’s Maxx phones & there ya go?! Just a thought.

Hi there, I just received the 4.1.2 official update from Verizon, no Premium Suite. This is totally ridiculous, all world can use the nice features and here in US we can. I just can say think better before buy your next Samsung, look at Apple release new version to all iPhones at once in whole World, an example of well organized and also respectful with the customers and users. Samsung and Verizon should be ashamed.

I don’t think it’s Samsung’s fault, or even the US Carrier’s fault for not including the Premium Suite. The blame might better be applied to the US Government for allowing the circus to continue of patent lawsuits. Samsung might be afraid that they will be shut down if they include any features without the permission of Apple.
