Nexus 6 / X Phone imaginings tote Android 6.0 Milkshake

#

Today we want to show you a glimpse into the future with some imaginings of a Nexus 6 / X Phone handset that runs on Android 6.0 Milkshake. There’s a huge amount of interest at the moment in the Nexus 5 smartphone that many feel will be unveiled at Google’s I/O event in May and also a Motorola X Phone. For a while this was even rumored to be the same device though that idea seems to have been dropped for now but if you want a look at what could be in store for a ‘hero device’ next year then read on.

We’ve seen so much speculation about what specs and features the Motorola X and Nexus 5 smartphones may have and so far none of the sets of specs we’ve seen seem to agree with each other. Perhaps it’s more refreshing then to give up trying to keep up with real information for a while and a look at this concept design for the Nexus 6 / X Phone is a pleasant diversion while we wait for news on the handsets that are more imminent.

We always enjoy taking a look at concept ideas for phones as they can give us a really good insight into what might be on offer and in the case of the really good ones we hope that some of the manufacturers concerned may be inspired by the designs. The envisioned Nexus 6 / X Phone that you can see in the image above is a collaboration from Google and Motorola and runs on Android 6.0 Milkshake.

As 5.0 Key Lime Pie is widely expected to launch in the next few months followed by an ‘L’ level (Lollipop anyone?), Milkshake could be some way off yet so it looks as though the designer of this concept, Introoo, has envisioned a phone that would not be released until the latter half of 2014 at the earliest. The phone has a 4.6-inch flexible IPS OLED display, 10 megapixel camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, NFC, GPS, wireless charging and HDMI-out.

As for the design itself the concept is based on the X Envelope and on the reverse of the phone there is the signature ‘X’ that most people will recognize. It’s built with semi flexible materials and is 8.5mm thick/thin. A distinctive touch is that each of the corners of the handset has been shaved off diagonally to create a different look. Owners would also be able to use 3D printed cases for the top of the display and create 3D parts to add to the chassis. Another feature for the phone is that it would support spatial gestures recognition.

We think this is a fascinating look at what a Nexus and X Phone collaboration could look like and if you hit the source link below you’ll see plenty more images for this concept Nexus 6 / X Phone. Do take a look but please come back to us and let us know what you think of this superphone idea for the future. Do you like the design and is this something you’d love to see come to fruition? Maybe you think something just like this could be a realistic proposition for 2014? Let us know with your comments.

First good high resolution display, what left not covered by the display less as possible, the shaved corners just increasing unused area. Dislike the idea.
