Samsung Galaxy Note 2 SlimBean Build 6 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update

#

It’s not too long ago that we told readers about the SlimBean ROM Build 5 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and now we have information for you about the SlimBean Build 6 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update. This ROM is now available for the Galaxy Note 2 with model number N7100.

This custom ROM from the popular SlimBean team will bring Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 owners the benefit of Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, but as always we should point out that this is not official firmware from Samsung. The installation is pretty straightforward though, and it offers a smooth experience, so if you are confident with using custom ROMs this may interest you.

SlimBean Build 6 offers optimization and also bug fixes for the earlier build as well as new features. As this is a custom firmware there is always the chance that there may be some bugs or issues, as it is still in the developmental phase. However, as with other SlimBean ROMs we would expect these to be ironed out with further developments.

A large list of key features and changes includes the addition of DC-HSPA+ to framework, major T9 dialer improvements, TRDS 2.0, added TruView for the camera, updates to DashClock, fixed Torch FC, added Auto-Brightness sensitivity, fixed BTMAP requests and much more.

At this stage we’ll give you our usual caution that at Phones Review we can never recommend the use of custom ROMs. We do know though that many of our readers are Android enthusiasts who enjoy using custom ROMs, and we bring you this information so that you can make an informed decision. However, if you choose to install this ROM you do so at your own risk, and you alone are responsible if anything goes amiss.

If you have decided to continue then there are certain pre-requisites that should be met including backing up your data and making sure you have at least 80% battery charge on your device before you begin. This avoids the possibility of bricking your phone if it turns off during the installation. If the USB Debugging mode is disabled then you need to turn it on, and you will need to be using a Galaxy Note 2 N7100 that is both carrier unlocked and has an unlocked bootloader. You will also need to have drivers installed on your computer for the device, and we must stress that these instructions are only for the N7100 model number of the Galaxy Note 2, and not for any other models of this phone.
