xRec app records your iPhone screen

#

At Phones Review we’re constantly on the lookout for new useful or entertaining apps to share with readers. Today we have some details about a new iOS xRec app that records your iPhone screen. Basically, it does what it says on the tin, and we have some information about this App Store app ahead.

The xRec app is priced at $1.99 /£1.49 and it’s compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd, 4th and 5th generation), and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5 but it’s NOT compatible with the upcoming iOS 7.

The app means that you can record whatever is on your iPhone display and turn it into a video file. That includes third-party app screen activity. Users need an Internet connection for first-time use and you’ll notice a red pulsating bar along the top of your screen when it’s recording.

Various quality audio recording is also available and this can then be saved to the camera roll on your device or sent to other apps you have installed. As Apple doesn’t even provide developers with screen recording for their apps it’s possible that the app may be removed at some point, especially as it can record activity from other software. However, it’s still available as we write.

The app description has full step-by-step details on how xRec works so to check out more or to download the app head to iTunes here. Although this app is gaining a lot of attention, when we looked at the customer reviews some of them were not exactly sparkling, so we’d like to hear your views on the xRec app. Will you be heading to the App Store to try it out.
