Nexus 4 Android 4.3 update keeps warming problems

#

Only a couple of days ago we saw that some people were getting confused over the release of Google Android 4.3, and the update availability for Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. Since that article we have heard from a number of our readers that have seen their Nexus 4 receive the Android 4.3 jelly Bean update OTA, although others are still experiencing a few problems they saw with previous Android versions.

This is clear to see on Google Plus in a number of Android communities, and those that haven’t installed the Android 4.3 update on their Nexus 4 or Nexus 7 have a few questions in relation to issues they have been experiencing.

One user stated, “I have a question for all Nexus 4 owners with the Android 4.3 update installed, is the phone still getting warm when playing games?”. We can confirm this problem had been there previously, and a number of comments on Google Plus and Facebook also reveal that Nexus 4 gamers also see the handset get pretty hot with Android 4.3 installed.

It is worth noting that gaming can cause a number of smartphones to get hot, and we have seen this with the iPhone 4S and 5 running iOS 7 beta 3 as well. It can also happen when using 3G or GPS and create a really hot phone under some circumstances.

If you have Android 4.3 installed on your Nexus 4, then let us know if your phone overheats when gaming or are you comfortable with the extra heat?

I’ve noticed a decrease in performance overall after updating to 4.3 , gaming took the worst hit. Playing a simple game like candy crush is stuttering and dropping in frame rate. Idk what’s going on with my n4. I only noticed slightly better battery but way worst performance and stability. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Or is just 4.3 ?

Bro. I updated to 4.3 too but I didn’t experience any performance decrease. Tbh I noticed a performance increase in all areas. Maybe it would be best to just contact Google and request fora product replacement. Good day!

i noticed that my nexus got slower on this update. swiping from screen to screen, multitasking from app to app seem less responsive. and especially the camera got slower also.

Just got the phone today. Brand new. Loved how smooth it was performing then I saw the 4.3 update. After downloading the update, I noticed a performance drop right away.

The heat given off by smartphones when gaming is due the the strain on the processor and has nothing to do with the OS on the handset…DOH!

my N4 after update is slower in panoramic and photospheres mode, and it has some problems with geotaging photos, gps is on but pictures were saved without coordinations. anyone has the same problems?

My Nexus 4 isn’t only hot; it blew up (o.k. maybe not literally but the phone is dead) while the update was installing. Still waiting to hear from Google re a new piece of equip. Not happy.

My Nexus 4 had been getting hot since the new update and I don’t play games on it. It’s annoying because I’m traveling and I feel like I’ve got a time bomb in my pocket all the time.

Installed the 4.3 OTA manually via ADB and everything works great. Yes my phone gets hot playing games but all my high end phones do.(i have i5 and s4) and like another poster commented, I have noticed an overall improvement of performance in all aspects of the phone from battery life to gaming and in between. Good day.

Same issue here; update to 4.3, phone gets really hot; even when not doing anything special. Play store seems to be a certain source of heat. Skype indeed also crashes back to the X splash screen (no sim unlock code required afterwards).

  9. Ivo says:

Before update it would get very warm when there were service problems, after update that stopped happening but now i keep losing connection to service and 3g.

Wow I thought I was alone! So glad I’m not. My nexus 4 heats up like crazy since after android 4.3 update, just by browsing using chrome or loading up playstore. Sometimes it just overheats even on standby it’s so weird. I’mgetting worried as the heat is prEtty.

The battery life of nexus 4 was bad now its even worse.

Gaming, charging and 2g browsing and regular usage causes significant warming on my nexus 4 with 4.3 update.. I deliberately tested with deactivating 3g.
    Any solutions please..

  12. Sam Shaw says:

Not only gaming but Nexus 4 is losing charge like anything and getting hot after 4.3 update.
Had really bad experience with 4.3 update over my 2 phones.
