Nexus 4 vs HTC One vs Motorola Moto X

#

The Motorola Moto X phone was recently made official and is due to release later this month. This smartphone has a 4.7-inch display and we thought it would be useful to compare it with two other impressive Android handsets with the same sized display. Hence we’re looking at the Nexus 4 vs. HTC One vs. Motorola Moto X.

The Moto X has been highly anticipated among Android device enthusiasts while the HTC One has already proved extremely popular since its release in March. The Google Nexus 4 made by LG has also been a huge hit, but is the oldest of these devices as it released last November. Although we cannot list every single specification and feature of these devices we’ll give you the key specs of each so that you can easily see what each phone has to offer.

Processor
The Nexus 4 has a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor and Adreno 320 graphics, while the HTC One is powered by a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, also with Adreno 320 GPU. The Moto X has a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor with Adreno 320 graphics.

Display
As we said previously all three handsets have a 4.7-inch display. The Nexus 4 has resolution of 1280 x 768 and 318 ppi, and the HTC One has full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 469 ppi. The Moto X display has resolution of 1280 x 720 and 312 ppi.

RAM and Storage
There’s 2GB of RAM and 8 or 16GB of internal storage (non-expandable) for the Nexus 4. The HTC One also has 2GB of RAM but this time there’s 32 or 64GB of internal storage (non-expandable). The Moto X is equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage (non-expandable).

Camera Set-up
The Nexus 4 has an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and 1080p video capture, plus a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The HTC One has a 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, optical image stabilization and 1080p video recording capability, and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The Moto X carries a 10-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and 1080p video capture, and it also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Battery
The Nexus 4 has a 2100 mAh battery while the HTC One totes a 2300 mAh battery, with the Moto X splitting the difference as it has a 2200 mAh battery.

Operating System
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean runs the Nexus 4 with the 4.3 update arriving recently. The HTC One launched on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, upgradable to 4.2.2. The Moto X will release running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, although all three should benefit from the upcoming 4.3 update.

As you can see from the above, all of these phones have a good deal to offer and of course personal preference of design will also come into play. We’ve also embedded a video on each of these three phones below this story so that readers can get a good idea of what they look like.

We’d like to hear your thoughts on the Nexus 4 vs. HTC One vs. Moto X smartphones. If you are just about to purchase a new smartphone would you choose one of these, and why? Some readers had hoped for higher specs for the newly announced Moto X, but what do you think about this? Let us know with your comments.

The Moto X doesn’t need high specs to equal or beat any top Android phone and the new software of “always on/aware” is Not like Sammy’s difficult-to-use and unnecessary gestures. Motorola Nailed Everything … except the pricing. I expected a lower cost off contact. Perhaps all the flack they’re getting now will be enough for them to reduce the price once it’s launched. Still, at $500, the Moto X is a Great Thing. Being constantly aware without a battery hit is a Solid Knockout ! Currently using the Nexus 4 and I completely love it however the Moto X is extremely compelling for me and just might be my next phone. It will be interesting to see if Motorola IS listening to the blogs and take the action of lowering the price off contact … and perhaps releases a higher res phone later on. My 2 cents.
