Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs HTC One Max phablet offerings

#

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 recently released in various world regions including the UK, and it will also launch within days in the US. The HTC One Max is an upcoming smartphone that has not yet been officially introduced by HTC. As both are Android phablet-sized handsets we’re looking at the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs. HTC One Max.

These two phones will be competing for the same spot in the market, and they are both high-end and have a lot to offer. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 follows on from previous successful Galaxy Note models, while the HTC One Max is a larger version of the HTC One flagship smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs that we’ll give you here are officially confirmed. However, we must point out that although there have been many leaked and rumored specs for the HTC One Max, the details we have here have not yet been officially confirmed. We’ll give you a rundown on the key specs for the Galaxy Note 3 and leaked specs for the HTC One Max.

We’ll begin with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which is powered by either a 1.9GHz Exynos Octa-core processor or a 2.3-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, dependent on region. It has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display with 386 ppi, 3GB of RAM, and 32 or 64GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD).

The Galaxy Note 3 also has a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3200 mAh battery, and runs Android 2.3 Jelly Bean skinned with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. It comes in black, white or pink color options and also has use of the S Pen stylus.

The HTC One Max has not been officially unveiled yet but is likely to have either a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor or Qualcomm 800 quad-core processor. However, recent rumors suggest that this may be downgraded to the Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU.

The One Max is rumored to have a 5.9-inch Full HD display and 2GB of RAM. A leak about internal storage on the device suggests the Chinese variant will have 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD. However, it’s though the international version is unlikely to have expandable storage so internal storage options will be larger at 32 and 64GB.

The HTC One Max is also rumored to have a 4-megapixel UltraPixel rear camera, which has received widespread praise on the HTC One, along with a 3000 or 3200 mAh battery. It’s likely that it will launch running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.5. Another addition that looks virtually certain is a fingerprint sensor. For obvious reasons the HTC One Max image above is a leaked image and therefore unofficial.

A date of October 17 has been mentioned as a possibility for the launch of the HTC One Max, but it’s not clear whether this will be an event unveiling or an actual release date for the phone. Hopefully though, it won’t be too much longer until all of the specs for the device are finally confirmed, but remember until then that the above specs are not official.

Both phones also have plenty of other specs and features but obviously we cannot give you all of that information here. Personal preference on the designs will also play a part. However, by looking at the above details you can get an idea of how they will stand up against each other.

We’re really interested to hear your thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs HTC One Max. Have you already decided to purchase the Galaxy Note 3? Maybe you were considering the Note 3 but may now wait to see the official HTC One Max specs before you make your decision? Send us your comments on this.

This isn’t a comparison at all one is a proven product with a professional/proven track record. The other is a rookie product with no track record or history in a category created and made prominent by Samsung. The Htc One Max is nothing more than a large screened smartphone with no purchase big just for the sake of being big. The Galaxy Note 3 is a business/productivity/multitasking marvel some that has been unparalleled and the perfect all purpose handset since the inception of Android. Plain and simple nothing beats Samsung or the Galaxy Note products and devices.

Just read a few hundred of your previous comments as well as this one … It made me wonder if you ever actually work or ust sit commenting on how wonderful Samsung are .. or is that work for you ??

I’ve just read back through quite a few of your posts too .. I really cannot imagine why this Samsung pimp Richard Yarrll called you a troll in some of his posts. Most of your posts that I have read seem to be interesting observations about the technology under discussion …

I sort of understand why he calls me that: for the most part, wherever he comments, I do too, if only to debunk his ridiculous, over-the-top claims, or just to generally show how much of an idiot he is. I mean, I won’t dispute the fact that the Note 2 and 3 are very good devices, but “the best”? And for “business/productivity/multitasking” at that? That’s what a laptop is for.

And what if you need/want a screen bigger than 5.7 inches? Or access to a real keyboard that doesn’t take up half the screen? Or what if the program you use on a daily basis for work isn’t and/or can’t be supported on mobile because it’s too processor intensive or just simply hasn’t been made yet? Ever think of that, genius?

No one has picked this up but on Three UK website in support for how to use your phone. It details how to set up fingerprint scanner! Screen shots and everything. Has the scanner been hidden? Adam Roots exclusive!!!!

Any that followed these simple rules … would be awesome AND a Slam Dunk Best Seller if they had the following features.

    * High Quality RF Chip with GREAT reception and broad bandwidth, sloping filters, and a good frequency response to provides quality audio. Blackberry does this best at this point. Motorola used to be best at this but they no longer seem to have good RF Performance now that the bean counters at Google are in charge.

    * RF Receiver with extremely high sensitivity and a GREAT antenna system capable of pulling in weak signals in rural areas and dead zones. Maybe even an external antenna jack so I can plug in in directly to my Wilson Cellular Amp in my truck or maybe even an external antenna option made by the manufacturer optimized for their phone and bands it covers.

    * Excellent quality mic and speakerphone for high fidelity audio transmission. HTC has better audio than most phones … Blackberry seems to very good as well.

    * Battery that can be changed to a high capacity battery similar to a Zero Lemon. I do not want a phone that has an internal better. When are manufacturers going to realize this? Samsung does this but the RF Reception on Samsung Phones has been consistently awful … almost as bad as Apple.

    * Say no to the crazy amount of Bloatware and Manufacturer Overlays that have ridiculous apps which only serve to clutter the phone and make it a play toy. I want a phone, not a toy. For those who want a toy, let them download the apps they want. Make it a good phone first and let people load whatever junk they want to suit their individual needs. Samsung is the worst offender here by far.

    * An optional model that features a great physical keyboard. Blackberry is the only company doing this right now … or should I say … the only one with a good phone with a good keyboard.

    * Better and more efficient use of on-board processors and AMOLED Screens as well other other methods to conserve battery life. I am actually happy with a 4″ to 5″ screen. This serves most people’s needs just fine.

    * Excellent build quality like HTC and Blackberry.

    * A more “Hack Proof” version of Android and IOS … which is probably a ridiculous fantasy … just like the rest of my wish list above. Blackberry is the most secure OS out of all phones on the market right now … by far.

    Someone PLEASE build this phone.

You will have a runaway best seller on your hands.

    That’s it.

    1. Welcome to the Internet says:

iPhone and Samsung did almost none of what you said and already have had multiple “runaway sellers”. It’s almost as if you have no idea what you’re talking about. Why don’t you give us 9 tips on making the internet a runaway seller too?

Well here is my opinion about both hand sets.
I own a Galaxy note 2. I would not upgrade to a note 3 because of the fact it is an note 2 that has been upgraded. And that is what it should be called. Not a Note 3. As you can tell I am not impressed.
Now the Htc One Max. I like the fact if the larger screen and what is has in the phone. It is a true competitor to the note 3. Now with that said. If Htc
Is dumb enough it lower the processor to a snapdragon 600 or an S4. I most certainlywill stay away. This phone deserves to be powered by a procesdor that would nake this an outstanding phone. Anything less than a snapdragon 800
would make this phone incomplete. HTC would loose the ranking they deserve. So on the 15th of October we will find out. A champion or a failure. The fate of HTC. Who knows.

Get real we all want a cellphone that can do it all but mostly one that has the fastest processor with a screen that is just a bit bigger than the Galaxy note 2 and a bit smaller than the Galaxy Mega; i don’t really care for the iphone’s but the first one to make this type of phone will be the clear winner period and will raise the bar for all cellphone company’s for years to come and that also includes Apple as well; keep up or be a follower or get left behind; example apple iphone 5c what a joke they are smart to market to china for this downgrade but U.S. will not fall for it. we like the best damn what ever period. so don’t say one is better than the other until all the cards have been dealt. and yes note 3 it is slightly better than the note 2 simple 2nd grade math. guys have fun with your new toys the best has yet to come.
