iOS 7 iMessage problems, unstable but fixable

#

iOS 7 is not sitting too well with many Apple consumers; we have seen so many complaints coming in about the new operating system. Some are saying it’s the worst to date, there are problems with those that wish to downgrade but cannot, and now there are iMessage problems.

We have taken a look over on Apple’s Support Communities website and iPhone owners are complaining about the new iOS 7, they report that since upgrading to iOS 7 they have had problems with iMessage. The problem seems to lie more with the iPhone 4 and 4S, not really seeing the iPhone 5S or 5C popping up a great deal.

The apparent iMessage problem stops messages from being sent with a few not being able to receive iMessages, If an iMessage cannot be sent it is common knowledge that they can be converted to SMS text but these are apparently not working either.

Since the release of iOS 7, iPhone owners are continuing to have issues. The iMessage problem seems to date back to September 18th when the new OS was released, but it has got a lot worse since the iOS 7.0.2 update went live.

There is a simple iMessage fix: Disable iMessage in Settings -> Messages, reset the iPhone’s Network Settings under Settings -> General -> Reset, then re-enable iMessage.

Please let us know if you are having iMessage problems on iOS 7, and what iPhone model you have?

Other issues since iOS 7 update includes battery issues, and iPhone 4, 4S owners hating the fact they cannot downgrade.

I have an iPhone 4. Since the last ios7.02 and I am unable to send iMessage but I can receive them. Also I am unable to send pictures via email

  2. Teresa says:

I got iPhone 4 and not sending messages ,the1st time it happened I switched off my phone but when I turned it back on I lost all text messages and about 400 pictures (lucky still on iPad ) now it’s happened again !!!

  3. TC says:

iPhone 4. Can’t send iMessage but don’t get a delivery failure so can’t select option to send as text. Also everything is really slow since upgrading to 7.0.2. Obviously Apple not wanting to support older technology and forcing everyone to upgrade to iPhone 5. Shame.

  4. Chrisdawg638265 says:

iPhone 4 iMessage not working and I have tried restarting phone and switching iMessage on/off. P.S. iOS 7 is really laggy on iPhone 4 🙁

  5. Adam Hopkinson says:

Yep, iMessage not working brilliantly on my iPhone 4 with iOS 7.0.2. Received a message 10 hours late at the weekend, and struggling to send anything. The good news is my phone doesn’t seem any slower or any more draining on the battery since iOS 7.

  6. Kris says:

I have an iPhone 5 and my iMessage stopped working yesterday as well. I upgraded to 7.0.2 the day my phone notified me of the update. I just tried the above fix, and it seemed to work, at least for now. I was just able to send and iMessage for the first time in a day.

  7. Kettle says:

Updated iOS 7 on iPhone 4, ever since my text message are not going through. iMessage is working but sending a normal SMS are not going through. Please help. June

  8. Kim says:

Going through the exact problems, updated at iOS7.0.2 and my imessages do not send, neither do they automatically send as a text message after. Battery life has gone worse, going to 30% within half an hour

  9. Trevor says:

Having same issues on iPhone 4… Sometimes the fix works, sometimes it does not. It’s also annoying to have to set up your wi-fi every time you reset network settings.

  10. Just saying says:

Having the same problem with iPhone 5. Message gets stuck in the middle and doesnt use SMS service either. The above workaround is working..for now.

  11. GRS says:

Same issue here with my iphone 4, did a reset network settings, will work a few times then will not send imessages again. Also, I cant send pics by email, the message sits in the outbox then vanishes?!! This really is an annoyance…..

  12. Nicole says:

I have tried everything. Reset network settings, turning off FaceTime and iMessage, backing up my phone, restoring, etc. nothing works. I still get the error message “could not sign in. Plesse check your network connection and try again.” IPhone 4S

I never thought I would get frustrated with Apple. The day has come.

  13. Chris says:

iPhone 4 not sending iMessages. Used tips above and it is working, for now. Overall, my phone is slower than before. Frustrated with what seems to be a stategy to force people to upgrade to newer devices, making perfectly good phones obsolete in too short of a time span. Make them less expensive if we are going to need a new one in a year or two.

  14. Gbjbazga says:

Arghh my iPhone 4S will not send iMessages, or change to txt message, although now will send as text message. However, my iPad will still not let me iMessage or text to another apple user!

  15. bammorey says:

I have an Iphone 5, update been fine since just now when it started saying (sending message 1 of 2) when trying to send an iMessage very confusing. Haven’t tried fix yet but will keep you updated

  16. Superman! says:

I have been having the same problem as many of the people in this forum.
Sending text and receiving text since I upgraded to IOS7 as been intermittent.
On my IPhone 4S. Even waiting all day until I get home and some how the WIFI connection picks the messages’ up sending them to me. There was no problem with IOS6, it worked fine.
I have even been into the EE shop to complain about the network, they just told me it was an apple software problem. Now I know the problem was to do with IMessage. Apple should have sorted all these bugs out before distribution of IOS7. I’m so disappointed with Apple has they promote a superior product. Yet I still don’t know whether this so called IMessage fix as worked. Apple could do better.

  17. calawrence says:

I have an iPhone 5. I have been unable to send an iMessage since updating to 7.0.2. I can go back and force it to send as a text message, but it does not do that automatically, nor does it return any error that the message couldn’t be sent. Just tried your fix and am hoping it works! Thanks!

  18. E O'Hara says:

I have an iPhone 4 and have been having problems with ios7. I reset my network settings and re-enabled iMessage yesterday but it’s still not sending iMessages.

  19. Applehead says:

iPhone 5: use of iMessage is intermittent since upgrading to iOS 7.0.2, just as other users are reporting. Even with a reset of network settings: Settings >> General >> Reset >> Reset Network Settings, it remains intermittent.

  20. Frustrated12 says:

iphone 4. The ios 7 upgrade worked fine, then when I updated to 7.2, my lock button on the top of the phone doesn’t work? I was just going to go back to ios 7, but it appears as though I might be able to????? Very frustrating :~/

  21. Please fix my iPhone says:

My iMessage blanks out and so does my keyboard. I can’t see messages or what I’m typing sometimes. My airdrop doesn’t show up in my control enter on my iPhone 4S, I can’t use the iPod controls when locked or in control center if the song has changed on it’s own. My lock screen pictures also don’t adjust to the orientation on my iPad mini. My iMessage also don’t work consistently and it sends as SMS even though I have it set not to… If I’m imessaging with an international number and the phone sends it has SMS, I’m gonna get charged for an international text. I love apple and iPhones and there are a lot of positive things about the new OS but these are like, serious issues that are hindering the proper use of the phone… And it’s very frustrating. I have friends that have has issues with iMessage before updating to 7, and the phone runs slower without the update but then you update and it doesn’t work on the older phones. Like that’s the point of making a basically mandatory remote update if it doesn’t work with the hardware. And why fix a stupid security (7.0.2) issue when there’s problems with the main functions of the phone.

  22. TimD says:

I have iPhone 5 and I’m having issues with iMessage. It just hangs up at “Sending”. As far as a I know I can send as a text message and they will go through… so far.

  23. Salomon Valverde says:

    iPhone 5, AT&T — same issues!

Your resolution seems to work temporarily, not sure if its just the fact that reseting involves a reboot.. Cause after I reboot iMessage works for awhile as well…

Weird. Cause my gf iMessage works just fine i believe. She’s on 7.0.2 as well!

  24. JenKat69 says:

Same problem as TimD – iMessage hangs up at “sending”. I can manually change to send as text message but it doesn’t happen automatically. I have an iPhone 5.

  25. VS says:

I’m having problems with iMessage too. It works after a system reset, but then it stops working again. I have an iPhone 5. The problem is that it doesn’t send the messages.

  26. Kris says:

After my contact is up I’m done with iPhone. iPhone is years behind other smart phones on the market & they’re always in such a rush to release something new that they never think it all the way through. Now thanks to this stupid update it has synced every single song I’ve purchases via itunes to my phone using the iCloud. & I can’t get it off. Most of these songs & videos I deleted from my phone years ago. Apple you suck big time. Sincerely a BEYOND PISSED OFF APPLE CUSTOMER.

  27. Jeanne says:

I have an iphone 5….4g…..I upgraded to the ios7 and while it is FASTER….I would give up that speed for my old backgroun back and most importantly…..MY TEXTS RANDOMLY STOP SENDING!!!! This is REALLY getting on my nerves!!!! I have tried to reboot the message section but it still says “sending 1 of 3 messages”…it has said that for OVER AN HOUR now!

  28. T_T ☺ says:

Really!? The vast majority of sheep, I mean iphone users are very happy with iOS 7. Where are you getting your facts from? You also can’t downgrade. Again, where the heck are you getting your into from?

  29. Casey says:

iphone 5 here. iMessage doesn’t work 50% of the time. Now I’m forced to turn it off since I am missing texts when it’s on. Did you feel that under your feet?? It’s Steve Jobs rolling over in his grave.

  30. Jessielou says:

I have tried this fix twice now. Each time it has worked for a few hours and then stopped working again! I am going to have to turn off the iMessage function to ensure my messages are being sent – which is annoying as it is one of the reasons I got an iPhone….I even spoke to apple who gave me the same (apprently temporary) solution to the problem.

  31. Nick says:

My family member & I both iPhone 5 AT&T. We both have had this issue since iOS 7. We have both tried the fix, only to report that the problem comes back. We are both turning off iMessage until Apple gets things in order.

  32. David says:

I have the iPhone 5. Since ios7.0.2 iMessage has been dreadful. I followed your suggested fix and, touch wood, so far it seems to have resolved the issue. I just hope this is so and does not have to be repeated!

  33. JeffK says:

I have an iPhone 4 and iMessage gets about 80-90% done and simply stops. Sending the message via SMS can only happen after some kind of time-out, for the option isn’t immediately available. iOS7 is slow, but generally, it works. Finding stuff takes a little patience at first. Oddly enough, iOS7 on an iPad is a totally different experience–I hardly notice the differences, while on the iPhone, they’re glaring. I haven’t experienced any of the gee-whiz features, but then again, they don’t interest me in the least. My next phone will be a Motorola Moto X.

  34. Jog says:

I’ve had the same problem with iMessage not sending texts since iOS7 came out and I haven’t even upgraded to iOS7 yet. Myself and my partner have iPhone 4s’s and are running the last version of iOS6. How can this update problem affect users not on the new operating system? The network reset seems to have fixed the problem, for the time being.

  35. JayB says:

I reset my network settings on my iPhone 4 and it worked! My iMessages are now sending. Hopefully it sticks and its not just a one time thing…

  36. SP says:

It only works temporarily, I’ve had to reset my phone 3 different times because of this issue and I haven’t done the bug fix update for iOS7. My wife has and her issue is an every day reset. If this issue isn’t fixed soon pple can kiss my 2 iphone, 2 ipads and my wifes mac goodbye. This was the worst update ever and the fact that they continue to be snobby about these issues makes it worse!

  37. JenS says:

I have a 4S and my problems just started yesterday, after about 5 days with the new OS. Originally, I could not send out messages, but after rebooting, that problem went away. NOW, when I send out a message on my phone, it appears on both the right side (sender side) as well as the left side (recipient side). This does not happen when I text from my iPad, which also has iOS7.

  38. JMA says:

I have an I Phone 5 and was unable to send text messages. I could receive them. Luckily was in Charleston, SC and walked into an Apple store and they reset if for me.

  39. Technokat says:

I have an iPhone 4 and after reseting imessage still wont send messages through, but I can receive them. It just keeps saying sending on top….

  40. Maria Dominguez says:

My hubby and my boss both have Iphone 5 — when they call me and we hang up — their line rings back every time…..it will do this 3 or 4 times continuously!!!!

  41. katesmithers says:

I have been having this problem with my brand new 5c. Powering down and restarting helps, but the steps above worked as well. Annoying for sure. I hate having a brand new phone and having to deal with “old phone” problems.

  42. angie says:

I have a iphone 4 and cant message other iphones or ipods. I can touch the message that is sending and select send as text to phones but it doesnt work for ipods because the only option is to send as an email.

  43. Peaches says:

I have the 4s imessage is just being a complete pain. Have no problems sending from ipad3. The battery life is awful on iphone now and is sluggish…..not a happy apple customer. Need an update apple bods ASAP

  44. Candice Dawn says:

iPhone 5, I’ve been having the problem too. iMessage doesn’t go thru but I still receive them. Even when I have full service, wifi, LTE, whatever. Reboot fixes but only for about a day. Annoying.

  45. mellllllll says:

had problems with my iphone 5 and imessage for like a week. turned the phone off and back on and it fixed it for a day or two. so then i reset my network settings. seems to be fine for now, but we will have to wait and see if it stops working again.

  46. Aido1101 says:

I have iPhone 4 and iMessage stops working at least once per day – a full reboot or a network settings refresh does sort it out but that’s a pain on the a**. I just chatted online to apple support and guy told me that he was surprised at the issue and that “there isn’t a rampant iMessage problem with ios7” – I have scheduled a call back but he said the probable fix will be a full iPhone reset. Apple urgently need to wake up here and realise that a fix is needed urgently. Until then I’m off to use Viber messaging.

  47. Terri says:

I have an iphone 5. I was having the issues with imessages not going through. I followed the steps above and now the messages are at least going through as text messages now. Thank you for the fix. By the way, except for that issue, I love the new look of IOS 7.

  48. Eugene says:

It deleted all the names from my contacts when I updated the iphone 4s – I would then have to revert back to a backup on itunes and it then end up deleting them again a few days later along with imessage stopped working! Very frustrating

  49. ang3lamarie says:

I have an Iphone 5, and I recently upgrade to iOS 7, last night I didn’t recieve a friends phone call, or 2 text messages this morning. I just did the reset and I’m hoping that works.

  50. Al says:

I have an iphone 4S and am still running iOS6. It seems that I am not receiving text messages from anyone who has upgraded to iOS7. It’s a real pain, which is potentially going to end up costing me work, and I resent being forced into an upgrade!

  51. Kate Hayden says:

Can not sent iMessage and dies not convert to txt I have a 4s and when I type it’s blank then catches up I’m sick of this issue get it sorted apple!!!!! Not happy

  52. boomergirltalk says:

I have a 4S and had the same problem of not being able to send messages. The only thing that worked is the “simple iMessage fix” given above. Following the directions to reset network settings worked for me and I experienced no data loss.

  53. girlwholikestorun says:

I have an iPhone 5 and iMessages sometimes won’t send and I have to restart my phone and then they will show up as undelivered and then I can resend them successfully.

  54. Kevin Phan says:

I have an iPhone 5 and when I use iMessage it keeps saying “sending” and had to restart my phone in order to make it work. However, it’s only for a short period of time then it stops working again…

  55. JC says:

iphone 4s, last all my apps after ios 7.0 install as well as the phones ability to find a wifi signal, never a problem before. Not a fan of Apple products to begin with so this doesn’t help especially since Apple is not wilking to help in fixing the issue.

    1. bob says:

your apps aren’t gone swipe one more time to the left the update adds an app to your second page and pushes all the other apps further back !

  56. Bayley Gabrielle says:

I have an iPhone 4 and was having the exact problem, starting yesterday, a couple days after I updated to 7.0.2, could receive iMessages but if I wanted to send one I would have to send it as a text… This solved my problem! Thank you so much!

  57. lilmrsp0923 says:

iphone 5s and it won’t send imessages. It gets to the very end of sending and stops!! I tried to delete and resend and ended up deleting the ENTIRE CONVERSATION, including pictures!! NOT HAPPY!!

  58. Keifer411 says:

iPhone 5 – started having the problem a week ago. Reset network settings and that seemed to fix it for a few days. Started having problems again yesterday. Trying the specific instruction above (turn off iMessage, reset network settings, enable iMessage). Really hope it works. If not, turning off iMessage until it’s fixed. Pretty disappointed with the new OS though. There weren’t enough upgrades and features that i care about to warrant the problems I’ve dealt with.

  59. Edith says:

I have the iPhone 5 and having issues with sending iMessages. Turning the phone off then back on and resending the text works for a bit but issue returns!!! So annoyed.

  60. Pkiwi says:

I have iphone 4 and have had issues with imsg not sending or being received. I reset network settings and that seems to have sorted it. Battery life is shorter even after I have turned off heaps of things that were said to drain battery. Not loving this upgrade much!

  61. Amy says:

I’ve been having issues sending and receiveing messages from others with iPhones. I can send and receive texts from those who do not own and iPhone though. I have the iphone 4 .

  62. Ralph Kristofer De Guzman says:

im on iphone5, tried so many times the procedure, but still imessage and facetime is not working. what will i do? please help

  63. Andyswats says:

I have a ipad 3. It has worked well for me until I IOS7. Since then, my new apps, my updating apps, music, TV Shows, Movies will not download correctly. The show up in the download page (apps in App Store, the rest in Itunes download. They just sit there saying, “waiting…” There is no way to delete or stop the download. I have 43 apps waiting for update and 9 in the Itunes que. Additionally, I can not log into IMessage and FaceTime.

  64. StacyT says:

I had an iPhone 4S. My husband has a 4. I cannot text to him as iMessage. It will not send. I have to convert it to SMS to send. However I can receive texts from him with no issues. He says he has not changed his settings. I have been able to send to other 4s phones and 5 phones with no conversion.

  65. ld says:

I have a 5c and was turning my iphone off and on in order to send or receive imessages. I was able to click the message and “send as text” but that didn’t help the imessages that I lost into the netherworld.

  66. Karen says:

I have an iPhone 4 and it wouldn’t send messages. Have just followed instructions above and it is working again. Not impressed with this iOS 7 so far …

  67. eccygem says:

i have an iphone 5, since the ios 7 update, all of my imessages send from the my icloud e-mail!! I have done your fix but its just deleted all of my wifi connection history !

  68. pinenut says:

I have an iphone 4 and have had many message send failures since updating iOs. This is very frustrating since I don’t necessarily notice right away. I’ve found that restarting the phone has worked for a short time and then problem recurs. I just did the Network Settings reset so hopefully it works. This is beyond inconvenient.

  69. Michelle D says:

I have an iPhone 4. I have problems with text messages not going through, my phone is very slow in general. At first all seemed good, but now IOS7 is really giving me problems.

  70. Jen says:

I have an iPhone 5 and I’ve had problems with iMessages for the past week. I can send iMessages to some contacts or none but SMS seems to work. Very frustrating.

  71. Chanse says:

Yes!! iPhone 5 iMessage randomly stops working but works after rebooting the phone. And it doesn’t notify that message doesn’t send nor does it convert to SMS!! Please fix Apple!!!

  72. Karen says:

I am going to throw this iphone5 out the window!! Randomly works and then doesn’t for iMessages. Even replying to emails on my live ac have stopped working. Only had these problems since the latest upgrade

  73. Julia Santogatta says:

I am so angry I can’t go back to earlier iOS on my 4s. iMessage failing is a huge issue, it actually hangs up and never even tells you it fails nor does it try to send it as a regular text. It started with the original release but you are right, it got way worse since the 7.0.2. I downloaded that thinking it was one of the bug fixes but no it made it even worse!

  74. David Diaz says:

I started having the iMessage problem after installing 7.0.2 on my iPhone 5. The iMessages just won’t send. If realized I could manually send it as a regular text by holding down on the blue iMessage. You’ll get an option to send as text. I’ll probably just turn of iMessaging completely until this gets resolved though.

I like the new iOS overall despite this hiccup.

  75. Jachin.W says:

As far as iMessage, I can receive but cannot send. Also, sending as sms would only cost me money which is the entire point of me using iMessage in the first place. Hopefully this resetting of the network will work ! (:

  76. Jachin.W says:

Just a quick fix that helped me, not sure if it’ll help anyone but hey- I went into my settings and turned iMessage off, put my phone in Airplane mode, Closed all background running apps and finally rebooted my phone. Not hard reset just the usual power button to turn off/on. hope this helps someone and if not sorry.

  77. eamorgan says:

Yes, I have the Iphone 5s and it is constantly turning off imessage saying “activation unsuccessful” it also does the same with facetime. It started after the 7.0.2 update. Before it was working fine. I will try the fix…..frustrating.

  78. Agentfruit says:

I have an iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.2 After the update it wouldn’t let me send texts to people it ‘knows’ have iMessage. It tried to send it as an iMessage, but it would never actually go through. The workaround was to press and hold the suspended iMessage so it gave the option to ‘send as text message’, at which point it sent to that person’s phone number. If there was no email address with the contact it went through as a text without problem. Tried turning on and off iMessage setting to no avail, and after much unsuccessful tinkering with settings I did a force restart and it seems to be working. O2, btw, say they’ve had thousands of callers with this problem, and also with total loss of wifi. They said count myself lucky that my wifi was still working. Apple’s advice to O2 to tell their customers….”Back up and restore factory settings”. Personally I’d go for the force restart first.

  79. Braewood says:

I have iPhone 4S and ipad 2. Since ios 7.0.2 I cannot sent imessages and my oh doesn’t send as SMS either. So I am blocked!!! Did. Novgorod any has worked so far on iPhone.

  80. Braewood says:

Also no group sms app works with new update, much to my husband’s great annoyance. On his iphone 4. All of them are offline and developers aware. They say Apple aware, but not aware of fix in 7.0.2.

  81. Leo says:

iOS7 is killing me right now. At least with the whole iMessage deal, I tried your advice with resetting the network on my iPhone 5 but it happens again after a few days where iMessage doesn’t send. I just figured I’d turn off iMessage until this problem is resolved.

  82. Julie says:

I can not receive imessages or pictures messages. I have an iPhone 5. I also tried the turn off imessages, reset, and then try to re enable imessages, but it is always already reenabled after the reset. This is ridiculous. I feel like I shouldn’t have to pay my whole phone bill since part of my service doesn’t work.

  83. Natasha Tams says:

I have an iPhone 5 and have issues sending iMessages. Very annoying. I ended up using my TU Go app. I only noticed these issues since the release of 7.0.2 update.

  84. Rach says:

I have an iPhone 4S and started experiencing problems with iMessage since downloading the iOS 7.0.2 update. iMessages just would not send, it was so irritating as I I’ve an area with very poor signal, so I couldn’t even send the messages as SMS in the alternative. Having found this web site, I was going to try the iMessage fix given above but decided against that as I was not sure about returning my network settings to factory default, in case I lost anything. So instead I disabled iMessage and then turned the phone off and back on and now iMessage seems to be working again… But for how long for?!?

  85. Clay says:

i just use biver and whats app now…. apple is completely hopeless. this used to happen on my iphone 4, 4s and now on my 5?

as long as i have wifi the apps work 🙂

  86. Deborah says:

I am having trouble receiving and sending sms with my iphone 4 iOS 7 since I updated it to the latest version 2 days ago. didn’t have problems before

  87. Rosanna says:

I have a 4S and nothing but problems since the junk ios7 upgrade. I had the popup “connect to iTunes” problem till I did a back up and full restore, now have had the IM problem, reset my network settings, IM works for a short time, then not working again. I have reset my network settings four times already today

  88. Raymond in Tel Aviv says:

iMessage on the iPhone 5 has affected all of my friends as well as myself, I’m pretty sure it’s affecting more than the user count they are suggesting!

  89. HH says:

been having the problems with iMessage now for tow days, thanks for the information on how to fix it. Hopefully this works. I have an Iphone 4. I have to say that I so wish I could go back to the last OS, because I really do not like this one.

  90. Dee says:

Iphone 5. Not delivering messages, not affecting all contacts. Tried to reset as suggestedstill wont work. Happened since update of software ios7.0.2. Must say i thinkdthe whole update is rubbish!!

  91. Martin says:

I have been having problems with my iPhone 5 with Imessage since IOS 7 came out. So far resetting the network settings has been a good fix. Thanks

  92. Steve says:

Got an iPhone 5, ever since installing iOS 7 I can’t send standard text messages, iMessage works but is “waiting for activation” according to the phone, tried several outside bug fixes but nothing has worked so far. Pain in the a@#e!!!

  93. Cathy says:

i have 4S and since i upgraded, i can’t access my mobile network. i can’t make phone calls except thru facetime. it’s been searching for the network ever since i upgraded 2 weeks ago!

  94. Clare says:

I have an iPhone4 and having even having imessage issues since upgrading to iOS7. Tried the suggestion yesterday and it worked but it has now stopped working again!

  95. Time for a change??? says:

i have abn iphone 5 with new ios7.02 upate and all of a sudden i couldn’t send text meesages or call out. I then reset my phone and still couldn’t call out. So then i called my phone which rang and rang but my phone never rang. Then i tried again and it finally went throug. Tried calling from my phone again and finally got a call out. Now still trying to send text messages. I will try reseting my network…wish me luck…*crosses fingers*

  96. Hayleymk6 says:

I have a 4s and haven’t been able to send an iMessage for 2 days, manual force as text message is working but not great. iPad 2 keyboard is slow/sticky too. Not overly impressed with iOS 7 or .2 so far…

I called apple after trying the above and my Ipone 5 is able to send but not receive. Now they want me to do a factory restore to bring it back up. Frustrating to say the least.

I can’t receive any incoming calls or any voice mails since upgrading to the ios 7.0.2 I can’t even get 3G but my WiFi works :s What the hell is going on! I’m just glad I’m not the only one experiencing problems with it. But I don’t know what to do about it?!

  99. mudfaerie says:

I have an iPhone 4S and just recently upgraded to iOS 7.02. I’ve tried connecting to iMessage using different Wi-Fi networks and 3G, but am always told to check my network connection. I can log in to my Apple ID on every other feature of my phone (even Game Center), but not iMessage. I’ve tried rebooting my phone, resetting network settings, turning iMessage on and off in various combinations with these other two, restoring a backup of my phone, and changing my Apple ID. I honestly don’t even know what to try next, and am really frustrated – it’s been like this for a few days now.

THANK YOU for the iMessage fix. I upgraded to ios7 on my iPhone 5 and suddenly iMessage would show about 90% complete on the blue status bar but never sent and since it wasn’t completing or showing an error the SMS override wasn’t working either. I searched many times about iMessage no longer working – your site finally fixed it thanks!!!!

Have an iPhone 5 and iMessage has turned to crap. Even if I turn iMessage on/off and I reset the Network settings multiple times, it still doesn’t work!

I have a iphone 4s and used to love it but i hate it now its turned to crap since the update ….seriously not good enough …the i messages go to 90% then nothing cant send as text it just sits there driving me mad …hate hate it 🙁

I have an iPhone 5 and iOS 7.0.2. Restarting my phone worked for me but a crippled messaging client is just not acceptable. For me that is a bigger issue than the security issue i 7.0.0.

I have an iphone 5 & ios 7.0.2 – I hav the Group Text App (which i paid for) & hav used for the last couple of years without problems. Since the update, now when i try to ‘create message’ a black screen comes up with the message “Please wait… Depending on your device model and message size this may take a few seconds or minutes” and nothing happens. This is really annoying me as i am the point of contact for a large club sending out urgent messages to all our members. Please help 🙂

THE REASON YOU ARE NOT SEEING AS MANY OF THESE ISSUES WITH THE IPHONE5’S IS MOST LIKELY BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE ARE STILL USING THE IPHONE4. I WOULD ASSUME IN THE MONTHS TO COME YOU WILL SEE MORE COMPLAINTS FROM IPHONE 5 OWNERS SIMPLY BECAUSE THERE WILL BE MORE PEOPLE WITH THE IPHONE 5’S. I DID THIS SETTINGS RESET AS EXPLAINED ABOVE AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE.

  106. Michelle says:

My husband and I both have the 5c and have had nothing but problems with the iMessages. It’s very frustrating and I hope they are able to fix it soon.

  107. Ginette says:

I have an iphone 5s. When I send a message to an iphone 4, the iPhone 4 isn’t receiving my iMessage. The message on iPhone 5s is blue, and the message on iPhone 4 is green. How do i fix this?

  108. Kissesmama says:

I have an iPhone 5 after the iOS 7, 7.2, and 7.3 I can receive texts from an android but they can’t receive mine, and it isn’t every android. My husband has same phone and he isn’t having any problems

  109. J says:

I have a 4S and messages sent to some 4S are not going through and some are??? Not sure if there is some fix to this. Both phones have the latest update 7.3.

I have iphone 5 and my iMessage doesn’t work, even after trying turning iMessage off, resetting & rebooting! Maybe should just give up with apple!!!

I have a iphone 4s before I upgrade to 0s 7 I can send message but now I only receive and cannot send keep getting message not delivered I try everything including restting network but nothing work

  112. Mark V says:

Iphone 4, the O2 Gurus (4 of them in separate occasions) have told me they cannot fix it and it is part of Apples strategy to make all older iPhones defunct in order to get is to upgrade. I found this excuse outrageous hate apple if it is true and hate O2 for not doing anything to get apple to sort it out, after all an upgrade will make them more ££ as well won’t it? I’m moving over to Samsung and Vodacom as soon as I can as a result.

Got the 4s in the Spring. Hate it! I can’t wait to be able to go back to a Droid. Ever since the updates, my phone has just gone to crap. Can’t receive certain texts, apps close all the time, internet is horrible, battery dies within an hour… it’s just a terrible phone. My HTC that I bought 4 years ago does a better job than this!

  114. Claire says:

iPhone 4 cannot send messages and keeps not delivering. I am also not reciting messages from others either. Also I can’t call or receive calls either.

  115. Brittle f says:

Had issues sending iMessages before the update and I thought getting the update would fix it but it’s even worse now. I don’t get any texts and although my phone says I’ve sent them my friends arnt getting mine either!

  116. Maisie Shadbolt says:

    I have the iphone 6…
My imessage works when it wants to, when i am at work i do not get very good signal but will always have 3G, When i send a message it goes green but will not send. so i cant text at all.
    I have tried resetting etc.
It works when i am out of work…
But my old iphone 5s worked fine here with imessage.
I don’t understand what’s different, or do you think it could be the phone?

    Thanks
    Maisie

I have an iPhone 5s that won’t send or receive iMessages. Sometimes it does, but most of the time it won’t. I’ve tried your fix but that didn’t work !
It’s really turned me off iPhones altogether 😣
