iOS 7 iMessage and other 7.0.2 faults anger users

#

Many smartphone, iPad users are getting to the stage where Apple’s operating system is losing its credibility, and since iOS 7.0.2 was released to the public it has been nothing but a major problem. iOS 7.0.2 iMessage and other faults are starting to anger users to the point they say its unacceptable.

It was only a few days ago we reported about iOS 7 iMessage problems being unstable but fixable, when this article about iMessage issues went live the comments came in very fast indeed. We actually said that the iMessage problem is happening more on the iPhone 4 and 4S and not so much on the 5S and 5C, well this is not the case any longer because we are getting comments coming in from iPhone 5S and 5C users saying they are having issues too.

When users upgraded from iOS 7.0.1 to 7.0.2 it did indeed fix the security flaw that allowed just about anyone to access a number of iPhone applications by carrying out a few commands from the lock screen, but no one thought it would throw a spanner in the iMessage works.

I have been personally using the iPhone 5, not actually got the 5S yet because it is not exciting enough for me. Anyway, I have had nothing but problem after problem and getting to the point that I do not care for Apple software as much as I use to. Do not get me wrong, we know Apple will get it right and fix all issues but I cannot be going through all this rubbish every time a new iOS is released.

My smartphone is very much needed for work and personal use, I was not receiving messages. Even after the iMessage fix I shared the other day it seems I am still having issues. I disabled iMessage in Settings > Messages – and then reset the Network Settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, after this was done I turned iMessage back on. It worked for a while but now having problems again.

Apple does know there is an issue with iOS 7.0.2 iMessage and they promise a fix within the next update, which will be iOS 7.0.3. I got to say the iPhone 3GS model was the best one; it did not have so many smart features, which of course means less can go wrong — only kidding, or am I!

Other faults I have personally encountered other than the iMessage fiasco include dropped calls, people trying to ring me but then my house phone rings only for them to ask why I am not answering them. On many occasions family, friends and business contacts have said they try ringing but it just cuts off before I can even answer it.

If any Apple iPhone user out there says that the new iOS 7 is the best ever then I am sorry they are deluded, I used to love Apple and granted when a new operating system is released there will be a few teething problems, but do come on these are not teething problems they are catastrophic. I need my iPhone to be able to send and receive text messages, I also need my smartphone to make and receive calls without any issues.

My house is over run with Apple products, iMac 27-inch, Mac Mini, iPhones, iPads, MacBook Air and so on, I am actually writing this piece on an iMac. These products are great but the iOS is unstable and really close to losing an iPhone customer.

iPhone fans will now come back and say that we should not worry because iOS 7.0.3 will fix the iMessage issue, and iOS 7.1 with be stable with no problems. Thousands of iPhone users and myself are a little too scared to update to a newer iOS in fear of creating more problems than we already have.

Please do let me know if you are having any issues since installing iOS 7.0.2?

We too are having nothing but problems using iMessage since updating to iOS 7 we have two iPhones and an iPad in our household and my iphone5 never seems to recieve calls either! I’m having the exact same problems!

Come on apple! Sort it out or loyal customers will unfortunately be moving on…

Please look over this article as I feel it is badly written, containing both poor sentence structure and grammar. It seems like it was written in a hurry and published without being proof read. The content of the article is not in question (I am an Android user not an iOS user) and can not comment on any problems with Apples newest software. The article has no flow and reads badly.

Ok Steve, glad to see you’re a proof reader. You should get a job doing that where you will not only get paid for your work, but your opinion may also be valued.

I am on IOS 7.0.2 and all of a sudden my calls are not going, even I am not receiving incoming calls…. Apple – Is this most advanced mobile operating system you were talking about??????

You are dead on with the dropped calls after installing iOS 7.0.2! I upgraded from my old iphone 4 to a new 5s 64 gig on 9/22 from Verizon. The new phone worked great my first week of ownership. Upgraded to iOS 7.0.2 on 9/29 and things went bad immediately. I departed on a business trip for 3 days and nearly became invisible to my clients, boss, family and coworkers as calls would not connect, or connect momentarily. I called both Verizon and Apple support and we reset and restored every aspect possible several times – nothing worked. Apple got me into a new 5s 64 gig yesterday and I found myself returning my original 5S at the Verizon store while other shoppers were told there was a waiting list. While I was there, 2 other users approached the sales counter with dropped call issues as well! The long and short of the story – My new 5S is currently working fine using IOS 7.0. I was advised to ignore upgrading to 7.0.2 for now.

I have the 4s, did not upgrade to 7.0.2 and have not experienced any problems at all so far. Perhaps I’ll wait until 7.0.3 comes out to upgrade

In my opinion apple has gone down hill quite rapidly. I too am having the issues others are having. Unfortunately for me I have the iPhone 4 and it is utterly useless. I cannot access most apps, I am experiencing an 8 second delay on calls, even as I type this comment I have to wait for the screen to catch up with my typing. I realize apple wants to sell their latest and greatest, but not all of us can afford that technology at a moments notice. What I am trying to say to apple is to practice some business ethics and quit writing programs that render older hardware obsolete. This phone I currently own will be my last apple product as I already own 2 iPads, an iPod mini, and an Apple TV device which by the way isn’t working as well.

Iphone designers: stop fixing what sosen’t need fixing. I hate the new “look”. It is difficult to read. The new voice memo smells; really bad; everything about it. Looks like Apple may be over the top with IOS 7. I hope they regain our confidence.

  8. Bernard says:

I have an iPhone 4 and recently updated from ios5 to ios7. I do not have ios7.0.2 yet. I have no problems with the iMessage and no dropped calls yet (knock on wood).

  9. Luke says:

I have an iPhone 4S on virgin mobile. Since updating to 7.0.2 all cell service is gone. I tried sim removal/replacement, and power cycle. No luck, just searching for service.

  10. Karlie says:

Has anybody noticed issues with their home button all the sudden not working after making the switch? I’ve heard it several times from people I know. I haven’t personally made the turnover from ios 6 in fear of losing my home button.

I have to say I completely agree with this article! I am a fan of apple because of the stability and security they offer to their customers along with their immense attention to detail! (Under Steve Jobs anyway) I can say we we’re all shocked in the developer world when apple chose not to release a beta 7 and go straight to the GM. In the weeks leading up to the public release developers were still reporting a lot of issues relating to the new OS. I think that Tim Cook is more focused on “logistics” and cost saving which is damaging apples reputation. Even the new MacBook airs are made using cheap crappy plastic parts compared to its predecessor. And the MacBook Pro with retina display can have that awful image retention. I made one do it in the apple store a while back and the guy refused to see it as an issue?! I mean come on I can’t have an image burnt into my screen every time I make a cup of coffee! Even writing this now, I’m having to use the message app because Safari has crashed twice and lost it all. I do.. Maybe did like apple, but I too am fast falling out of love with their products because they no longer seem to deliver what they say they do. This is not just an ios issue, this is company wide. You only need to spend some time looking at new products to realise this. It’s a real shame especially as the only real alternative for me is a giant advertising agency (google’s android) I can’t help but wonder if I should jump ship. I too need to be able to send and receive calls and messages. I mean that’s what a phones for right…?

I haven’t updated my iPhone 5 to IOS 7. I keep almost doing it and them I read another review like this one. There seems to be some cool new features but I like my phone functioning properly, thank you very much. Also, although I have never been enamored with the calendar app (loved datebk from good old PDA days), I hear they have made it suck even more. It amazes me with all the money they are raking in that they would release such a low budget OS upgrade.

  13. Carlos an unhappy Apple user says:

Yes, I have the iPhone 5 (not sure I care which one now) and I am also having issues. My texts (iMessage) after updating to 7.0.2.
When you move your household and restart your business in a new location where nobody knows you, it’s kinda important to receive texts from possible new clients, your son in college that’s mad at you and you art trying to patch things up with, your wife that is trying to get something accomplished before she gets home. YES! I am a VERY UNHAPPY apple customer that is also thinking of jumping ship as soon as TODAY. I’m tired of having these issues that, as insignificant as they may be, have a HUGE impact in my life…. BTW: I’m also tired of Safari not being able to open or view some sites…Agh!!!
Sorry, I’m venting on you all!

When I downloaded iOS 7.0.2, it completely locked me out of my phone. It took me all the way back to the activation process and I would type in all of the correct Apple ID information and it would tell me that the information could not be used to unlock this iPhone. (I had an iPhone 4). When I took my phone to Verizon, they tried everything possible to fix it. After multiple tries, they eventually just told me I would probably have to get a new phone. I ended up getting the iPhone 5c (which I love) that still has the first iOS 7 update on it. iOS 7.0.2 came out a day or two after, and I don’t know if I should download it or not, because of what it did to my iPhone 4. I’m thinking about waiting for the next bug fix and reviewing it before I ever update it.

I hate the WHOLE NEW ‘ HORRIBLE’ iOS 7. No way I’m gonna take ANY chances of anymore screwup a with the IOS7.0.2 my iMessages weren’t getting delivered. My address book is SLOW . Can’t get my personal greeting to play, datebook & calendar SLOW or doesn’t take new dates AT ALL! They released it before they had totally worked out ALL THE GLITCHES! Steve Jobs is turning in his grave!!!

  16. Francis Fahning says:

iTunes has failed to open since the iOS 7.02 update. I try to open it, but as soon as it comes up it goes back to home screen on my iphone 5c. What to do?

  17. Frustrated says:

iOS 7.0.2 removes the ability to share pictures via whatsapp but ios 7.0 allows it.
Beta version of iOS 7 allows panorama pictures to be saved as wallpaper which will move as you move your phone but official ios 7 version took away this ability.

  18. Mellimel says:

My phone freezes a lot. I HATE the calender now it’s just awful and ridiculous to read my schedule. Also they need to fix the wallpaper scaling issue. If I wanted a droid interface I would have bought a droid, there was a reason I chose iPhone and this ios7 is not it

  19. Josdad says:

I have iPhone 4 and now updated to iSO7 I have suffered service issues on Orange (EE) signal on opening up apps. Seems to work ok on home wifi!!
Like the last person I don’t like the calendar!

  20. Natalie says:

Since I have done the update on my iPhone 5 I have had all sorts of problems. Safari will randomly close (it’s happened twice since I began writing this comment). I won’t receive phone calls – only iMessages. I won’t receive phone calls or iMessages but I’ll get a voicemail with no content. My calls drop all the time and my battery life is quick to die. I use my phone for work and this is incredibly upsetting. Also, I agree with Melliimel…the wallpaper scaling issue is ridiculous. One of the things I hated about my previous droid was the wallpaper issue. I chose to switch to the iPhone for a lot of reasons and I’m beginning to regret my switch.

  21. Kristen says:

I’m not getting text messages (I know this because I’m getting them on my iPad, which I haven’t updated) and they’re not sending out either. This is really frustrating. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  22. David says:

Since I updated my iPhone to iOS7 my I-messages are not been sent. They just hang, but more frustrating is that after 30 seconds into a ph call the receiver on the other end can’t hear me but I can hear them. This is killing my business. How do I get this sorted out?

  23. Roz says:

iOS7 – I hate the way the visuals have changed on everything on my phone from icons to text size and clarity. Is there any way to go back to the previous iOS?

  24. Sunny Gee says:

I have had nothing BUT problems since ios 7.0.2 on iPhone 5! iMessage, FaceTime, Facebook, whatsapp, twitter, linkedin, battery life but to name a few… Iv connected to iTunes, tried resets etc etc but no fix as yet! I can’t believe that I’m using such expensive technology and it’s performing so badly! I never thought I would change from my “All things Apple” obsession but that time is now fast approaching! I am so frustrated!

  25. Marta says:

Since I upgraded I experience exactly the same problems as you describe – my friends and family tries to call me but are directly connected to my voicemail, and I just get a “missed call” note. Not even a signal, it just shows up on the screen after a while. And some imessages are not sent out.

  26. mr dissatisfied says:

hi yes had both of the issues you describe with messages not sending in imessage format and having to push them on with the text message option
    I have also had issues this week with the dropping calls I have a iphone 4s which has also affected my credibility with clients and annoyance with family i am due to upgrade in January this was my first iphone and while I see it as an awesome piece of kit its aparant that since the death of steve jobs the platform simply has not been the same look at what we have had in the last 2 years maps that didnt work a ios that can be cracked and now the 2 most important aspects of a phone;
    the ability to text
    and make calls
both not working should rename it to ….
    idonthaveaphone :-0
I will roll my phone back after backing up and review who I purchase from next but I don’t think it will be apple
sony’s waterproof experia z looks tasty

  27. Jax says:

Hi. Have a 4S which ran without issues prior to IOS 7.0.2. Since 7.0.2 my WiFi is completely dead. I’ve not had any iMessage issues, but the phone freezes up to 4 times a day. At times the screen goes black and returns after a couple of minutes. This is a business phone and it is so frustrating, I am seriously considering Samsung. I cannot even go back to 6. What was Apple thinking……..

  28. Fedup says:

Same problems, I drop at least 80% to 90% of my incoming calls, plus problems with receiving iMessages & sending texts. I’ve done multiple resets, think it may be better, then problems continue.

  29. promomast says:

well…i struggled and struggled with a imessage fix…and followed the rest network suggestion and yes it accepted my apple id to activate it…so big thanks and i know it’s operating as my partners text to and from are now in pale blue lol

phew…now i’ll be wondering how long ? but thank you and i concur apple need to step back up much faster
