Nexus 5 release rumour hints at November

#

It is pretty obvious that there will be a new Nexus smartphone in the coming weeks following the amount of leaks and sightings we have seen recently, and it has long been believed that the device will become available this month but a new Nexus 5 release rumour hints at November.

Google is holding an event tomorrow which looks set to concentrate on all things Google Play related, and as we are getting closer to the end of October a Nexus 5 launch this month is looking more unlikely.

Now a new rumour is suggesting that the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system along with the Nexus 5 won’t see a release until sometime next month. It is thought that both LG and Google are not quite ready yet to launch the device this month so it has been pushed back.

There have been claims that LG wants to wait until it is ready to also launch its LG G Flex smartphone with its curved display, but it is doubtful that Google would be willing to wait for this reason alone. The LG G Flex is also claimed to be launched running the Android 4.4 KitKat OS but the source of these claims have come via an email out of Korea so a rather large pinch of salt is needed.

We may get more indication about Google’s plans tomorrow at the event it is staging over in New York City, and they may even surprise everyone and reveal the Nexus 5 along with the Nexus 10. Leaks have continued to come thick and fast recently that have included a white model and a brief appearance on Google Play.

The last two Nexus devices were released in November so no surprises there, I would still expect an announcement by the end of the month. I very much doubt they will release a white version….Needless to say I am champing at the bit to get this

And the two before that were December and January. Anytime before November would be historically early.

The last two years, they’ve ANNOUNCED in October but actual release was in November.

Remember The Lg Nexus 4 brought the nexus line to forefront!!! Very high demand very very popular…. And yes price did play a major part with the Nexus 4 demand. But lets wait and see.

And the gen3 Galaxy Nexus price drop a few months after release perked attention. Google kept that same price with the Nexus 4. The Galaxy Nexus was top tier specs for its time. End of 2011, it had dual core CPU, 4.65″ 720p HD display (one of the first Androids to go HD), 1GB RAM. It was like a Galaxy S 2.5. The Galaxy S II had come out in May 2011 and the Galaxy S III came out in May 2012. The Galaxy Nexus (made by Samsung for Google) was released halfway through that model year and incorporated many features like NFC that would be included in the SIII.

First it was $349 (8GB), $399 (16GB), but a few months later was dropped to $299 (8GB), $349 (16GB). Suddenly there was a lot of interest in the Nexus line. I bought two of those in July 2012, for me and my wife.

Google then kept that pricing for the LG Nexus 4, which had 4.7″ 720p display — but upped the RAM to 2GB and came with quad core CPU.

if google is building up/ drumming up the nexus 5 chorus, then I think they have been dragging it a bit long now. otoh, if the leaks weren’t meant to be, then they need to learn a few things to manage PR better.

To me it seems logical that if the events focus is on Google Play, what better a time to demo this through a new device or devices (Nexus 5,10), and using the new OS kitkat. Makes perfect sense that tomorrow will be the day we have been awaiting.

Google would have to be idiots not to announce. With all the “leaks” they engineered, they would be pissing in the face of their fans if they pulled any marketing BS tomorrow. I think a lot of people would feel personally insulted by Google and get a different phone. As much as I want the phone, I’m not so blinded by it to not realize the Nexus 5 will be yesterday’s news as soon as CES in early January.

So Google, before you pull any BS moves tomorrow you’ve gotta ask yourself a question: “Do I feel lucky?”

    Well, do ya, punk? 😉

    Is google playing with us?
When it takes to long people will buy other phones like the G2, where the Nexus 5 is based on.

    Its taking to long..

    1. newsjunkieintl says:

Google doesn’t care. Enough people will still buy. They don’t make any money on these phones. So, losing a sale isn’t losing money. They do it as Android developer showcase phones. I’d rather it be “right” than released early.

    1. Rajendra Kumar says:

In India you may still have to wait for another 3-6 months for release if you can wait then buy nexus 5. You can get an early nexus 5 on ebay but that would cost you not less than 32k and nexus 4 is available for 20k so its totally your choice. Nexus 4 still is a good phone and would remain so for a while

    1. rjh555 says:

Its not a wait at all or a maybe it might come out its a yearly release just like the iPhone. it will be out by the end of the month or in a few weeks. Don’t act like Google has told you when it was coming out then changed there mind a bunch of times because they haven’t even announced it yet and it hasn’t even been a year yet for the n4. So let’s just say you where never going to buy the n5 and you just wanted to use that as an excuse to buy the note.

  8. newsjunkieintl says:

These idiot tech journalists won’t look and listen. Google has NEVER released a Nexus phone before November. Never. Why would this year be any different?

    November (gen4)
    November (gen3)
    December (gen2)
January (gen1- and yes, I am counting January as AFTER November).

Those are the ONLY months Google has released Nexus phones. Pick your favorite.

      1. newsjunkieintl says:

With the GEN3 Galaxy Nexus they decided to announce in October and release in November. All the big smartphone releases (from other manufacturers) usually have already happened — not stepping on anyone’s toes. (2013 is a little different with everyone rushing out updates to incorporate Snapdragon 800) Then the major trade show for manufacturers to pre-announce the next year’s products is in January. So, a November release worked better than December (gen2) or January (gen1).

Releasing in November lets people still have December to appreciate the new Nexus before the major trade show in January. 🙂

Worked out so well with the Galaxy Nexus they did it again with the Nexus 4. October announcement/November release.

Google can still announce it next week (last week in October), release in November and it will EXACTLY match 2012. But even if they wait until first week of November to announce and then release it in mid-November, they are still releasing in November — like the last two years. It doesn’t matter when they ANNOUNCE, what matters is when they RELEASE.

The Nexus 5 is not delayed yet. If November ends and still no release, then that will break with the last two year’s history, but still would not be unprecedented. If we get past January 2014, THEN it’s late. 🙂

    1. justsaying says:

According to that trend, the release is earlier every year. Jan, Dec, Nov 17, Nov 13. I am not saying the release will happen in October. Google will do what it wants. You are speculating just as much as the tech journalists.

      1. newsjunkieintl says:

I’m not speculating. I’m pointing to history. The Nexus is an developer showcase phone on an annual release cycle. Any time before November would be historically early.

Yes, Google can do what they want. But for 4 phones now they don’t seem to want to release before November. Twice they have ANNOUNCED in October, but waited until November to RELEASE. The other two times were even later.

We are down to 1 week left in October — so you see I’m right. 🙂

But I’ve been saying this since LAST MAY when tech journalist idiots were saying the Nexus 5 would be announced/releaed at the May I/O conference. WHAT? Are they crazy? The Nexus 4 had just been released November 2012, wasn’t widely available until January 2013, NO way they are releasing a Nexus 5 in May 2013 when they can’t even keep up with the Nexus 4 demand. STUPIDITY PERSONIFIED.

Then it was July, then August, then September. Blah, blah, blah. Look at the last two years and you will see what Google prefers. Look at the last 3 years and you see a definite trend. 4th quarter, end of year.
