GTA V iFruit Android app not working for me

#

After waiting weeks after the iOS platform was treated to the app RockStar Games finally got around to releasing the GTA V iFruit Android app, but so far the application is not working correctly for me on my Samsung Galaxy S3.

Due to work commitments I have not had much chance to play GTA V since I was treated to the game a few weeks ago, but once the iFruit app was released a few days ago I quickly downloaded it to my smartphone and started to have a play around with it.

Now it has taken the developer around 5 weeks to get this app out onto the Android platform, and in my eyes it certainly isn’t worth the wait. The app is constantly crashing and sending me back to my home page of even Google Play.

When trying to sign into the GTA V section of the app it won’t let me enter my date of birth information so I can’t gain access to it. If I try and select the Social Club section of the app it often just hangs and needs me to abort the selection.

Selecting the LS Customs option causes the same problem and I have tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it but get met with the same problems. My smartphone has tons of memory left and I have no issues running other apps, so I thought I would try installing the app on my Nexus 7 and low and behold the same issues are there as well.

Having a dig around to see if other users have been having problems quickly reveals that the app has some serious issues for a lot of users. The app states that it needs Android 2.3 or above but some users with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean can’t even install the app in the first place.

Google Play is awash with users complaining about problems with the app and at the time of writing only has a score of 2.8, although there is the odd user saying it works OK for them.

Have you had issues with iFruit for Android?

I have exactly the same issues as you. It’s an absolute farce and a kick in the teeth, as if making Android users wait longer than Apple (supposedly some sort of agreement there) wasn’t bad enough. Rockstar’s non-conformist image has been totally shattered. Now to me they are just another corporate entity. It’s quite sad, but there’s very little we can do about it.

I’m having the exact same issue, and I 100% agree, It’s maddening that they fail to deliver on their promises again and again. What was supposed to be the game of the year and Rockstar’s biggest and best game yet has turned me away from the company. How could a company that is supposed to be one of the best and well know names around fail so spectacularly?

ifruit for Android must have code written by the same company that wrote Owebama’s Owebama healthcare exchange website.

Pathetic doesn’t begin to cover it.

Yup… loaded it on my Galaxy S3 and it worked fine once. Next time I loaded it all my progress with chop the dog was gone & now it won’t even load. Just goes to a black screen or ifruit “loading” icon spins relentlessly until I give up and shut my phone down.

Found a work around with the birthday entering problem, use the voice dictation feature. Apparently it will recognize that but not the software keyboard
