iGoogle shutdown is official, Phones Review alternatives

#

We want to bring it to your attention that iGoogle has officially passed away; we can no longer use or even see iGoogle anymore.

RIP iGoogle you will be sorely missed, what will we all do without you now?

If you visit the ex-official URL www.google.com/ig you will not be directed to iGoogle but instead Google’s search page. Many Phones Review readers who had us on their iGoogle start page will be looking for alternatives now.

One of our readers emailed us and said, “Now that the iGoogle home page is going away, what other home pages are you on? Are you available on MSN or iG Home? – Thanks, would hate to lose your stuff!”

The answer to this question is that Phones Review has not yet set anything else up in its place, because it has been very busy this year we have not had the time to sort this out. However, the reader emailed us back and said that they exported their iGoogle.com stuff and imported it into ighome.com and our “Phones Review” gadget appears.

We wish to say a massive thank you to our special reader, you know whom you are so thanks for the heads up.

If you are looking for alternatives we suggest you visit OSM, they have many iGoogle alternatives – Symbaloo and Myfav.es / MyYahoo / Shutdown and Trusting / Firefox, Mac, Chrome Replacements / StartMe and igHome / Other Alternatives.

Please do let us know how you feel about iGoogle closing its doors today, love to know what alternative you are using?

I’m gutted iGoogle has closed down. I had it as my home page for many years! I have just set up ighome, but it currently a cheap copy. Needs a LOT of work doing to it, to even come close to iGoogle! Plus I miss my Countdown to Christmas gadget! 🙁

countdown to xmax ……thats what its all about people….. the small personale , meaningful stuff to ordinary people……not everybody wants tabs and squares ……..think G!

Gutted too. Not sure why they needed to get rid of it. Yes, it was outdated etc – but so what? Was handy having small ‘snapshots’ of items (like gmail) – now everything is accessed over multiple tabs and all over the place! 🙁

Not cool man, one of the better Google services, not enough effort was made by Google to keep it current, disappointing that they pander to the larger audience, there must have been millions of people using Igoogle daily.

Google doesn’t give a rats ass about it’s users. I had my homepage set up for YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! What they have now is crap. I’ll set up Chrome as best i can but in the meantime look for something that has nothing to do with Google. You had loyal users for years. You crapped on us!

I don’t know about all of you, but I’m going to go back to using my old Yahoo homepage, You can add your favourite links, and news feeds, etc. Perhaps this kind of action – if enough of us do it – will send a message to Google.

I am so pissed off at Google for shutting down iGoogle – I had used it for years. I feel betrayed by a company that has grown to big for its own good, and so I no longer use Chome, Google Search, Maps, or any other Google product. I know that means nothing to them, but it’s the most I can do. What jerks,,,
