Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 Android 4.4 update needed

#

It looks as if Samsung has run into some major problems in the last few days with the updating of one of its older flagship smartphones, but it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is needed now.

If you are a regular reader of Phones Review or the owner of the Samsung Galaxy S3 you will probably be aware of the serious problems that have been affecting the device since the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software was released, and has even led us to avoid updating our version of the handset.

Many owners have reported being affected by some serious issues after installing the new firmware that have included severe battery drain, Wi-Fi problems, lag, and the handset just completely freezing up among other things.

Samsung is due to update the Galaxy Note 2 next but these problems have led us to speculate that the company may delay the release of the Android 4.3 update due to these problems found with the S3.

The company has been pretty quiet on the issue but you would have thought that it should just abandon the update for both handsets and work around the clock to push out Android 4.4 KitKat instead.

We have already heard that both handsets would eventually receive the latest version of the Android OS and it would make more sense to quickly provide a stable version of this instead of fixing Android 4.3.

The trouble is it is doubtful that Samsung would update last year’s flagship handsets before the likes of the Galaxy S4 that is expected to get the Android 4.4 update early next year along with the Galaxy Note 3.

If the company were to make this move it would go some way to appeasing the many owners that are outraged at the situation, and some of the comments we have received have come from Galaxy S3 owners stating they would never purchase a Samsung smartphone again.

Do you think Samsung should quickly push out a stable version of Android 4.4 KitKat instead?

Samsung could not get 4.2 to work after 5 months of work so cancelled.
4.3 pulled after 5 months of work.
4.4 is two week old at best.
Now given the above track record what are the chances samsung can get 4.4 update to work properly on the s3/note2. In another 5 months i suspect this same article will appear again, with 4.4 replaced with 5.0.

whatever!!! even if they push their own ass it wouldn’t change a thing. i guess they have to work with their human resources first before doing the real thing. they are not even sure if they’re doing it right. first fix their programmers then fix the update!! that will do!!

There should be a fix for this update probably the android 4.4 update as the 4.3 update is being affected by some serious issues after installing the new firmware that have included severe battery drain, Wi-Fi problems, lag, and the handset just completely freezing up among other things. 🙁

All US Carriers are currently freaking out due to Samsung potentially decimating their 2013 holiday sales expectations due to the very FAULTY Android 4.3 for the GSIII & GNII which was expected to have already released for the GSIII & next week for the Note II. As I continue to ask myself repetitively, why has the Galaxy S4 & Note 3 not have received any kind of major software issues like other devices have? If Samsung’s vision on the future of these devices, more importantly they’re new Galaxy gear, was correct, we would see roll outs of the new Android 4.4 KitKat on all 4 devices (Note 3, GS4, GS3, Note 2.) Let’s get it together Samsung. Help out the carriers!

Samsung should provide a fix for all those stuck on the buggy 4.3 and then upgrade all the note 3, GS4, GS3 and note 2 to Android 4.4 at the same time.

Samsung sure takes it’s time at implementing updates on their devices. I’ve got the older Note 10.1, a Note 8.0 and a Note 2. It is taking far too long for updates, while it’s competitors like Asus, Acer, Google, etc are updating their devices much quicker. When Samsung finally does release an update, it seems to be unpolished. Maybe they should concentrate more on quality vs qantity. They spend so much time putting out many variations of tablets and handsets that they can’t properly support them. If you’re going to compete with the likes of Apple, maybe focus more on making your customers come back by standing behind your products instead of having them run off to the competition. You need teams working on updates much quicker than they are currently. In the future I’ll be looking to buy from the competition.

I have Note 2 LTE and will never purchase Samsung mobiles again… Giving poor Quality mobiles and also cannot keep up with the updates. With s3 can you not test it before roll it out? These asians are proper cow boys these days. “SEEING TOO MUCH CASH”

  8. Adam says:

Samsung you are going down soon… becoming ASIAN COW BOYS with money falling from your pockets. No way of buying NOTE 3 after going through all this. So NOTE 3 buyers think before you buy because after few months you will be in a same shoe or maybe worse. No more samsung for me after this.

  9. Rahul says:

No more Samsung phone for me… the features they advertise are worthless without updates… My next one will be Nexus for sure…. Pure Andorid… No Sh*t…

  10. Niral Ramesh says:

all you idiots, stop complaining about a lack of updates; no OEM updates their phone in a timely fashion when compared to nexus devices. you can easily flash a 4.4 ROM
