Cortana Voice Assistant on Windows Phone 8.1 Video

Under: Mobile Phones, Windows OS
Date: March 4th, 2014

Those crazy guys over at unleashthephones have done it again with even more leaks regarding Windows Phone 8.1, this time we see what Cortana is all about.

We first thought that Cortana was just going to be the code name, but it seems as though Microsoft have gone ahead and carried on the name within the build that has been leaked in the video below.

Microsoft explains Cortana as “a personal assistant on your phone, ready to help with reminders, suggestions, tasks and lots more”, it also seems as though Cortana makes use of location, contacts and email information, voice input, text messages, browser history and search history in order to learn about the user’s habits.

It will ask for the user’s name as well as some information about the user e.g hobbies and it will gain this information with questions such as

  • What are a couple of the most enjoyable parts of your everyday evenings?
  • When you think about food, what’s most important to you these days?
  • What are two of your main motivations for going out to an event/activity?
  • When you want to catch up on what’s going on in the world, which section do you go to first?

It’s looking like Windows Phone 8.1 is shaping up to offer some nice new treats, we’re looking forward to seeing what Microsoft have planned going forward.
