HTC Desire 816 sells out quickly indicating demand

#

The HTC Desire 816 is a mid-range smartphone generating a massive amount of interest. It was scheduled to release this month in China followed by other world regions in April. We have already told how pre-orders of the phone in China were so strong they led to a shares rise for HTC. Now the Desire 816 has actually released in China and sold out in minutes.

This phablet achieved more than a million pre-orders in China, and when it actually hit the shelves the 50,000 units available were all sold in just 10 minutes. Even HTC seemed unprepared for the huge demand, with some people having difficulty even placing an order online.

HTC now states on Sina Weibo that more units are to be issued for sale on March 21 at 10:00, and of course it’s also likely that these will also sell out virtually straight away. It will be interesting to see if there is similar demand for the phone when it releases in other regions such as Europe next month, although its price elsewhere will play a large part in this. Are you intending to buy the HTC Desire 816?
