Nexus 5 vs Sony Xperia T2 Ultra specs rundown

#

It’s time for another smartphone comparison and this time we’re looking at the Nexus 5 vs. Sony Xperia T2 Ultra in a specs rundown. The Google Nexus 5 may have released last year but is still an immensely popular device while the Xperia T2 Ultra has made a recent appearance.

These are both Android smartphones in the same price segment of the market, with the display size being a distinguishing factor. We’ll highlight the key specs of the Nexus 5 and the Xperia T2 Ultra so you can see what they have to offer and how they stand up against each other.

Processors
The LG-made Nexus 5 is powered by a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor with Adreno 330 graphics. The Xperia T2 Ultra has a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor with Adreno 305 graphics.

Display
The Nexus 5 has a 4.95-inch True HD IPS+ display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 445 ppi. The Xperia T2 Ultra has a whopping 6-inch IPS LCD display with resolution of 1280 x 720 and 245 ppi.

RAM and Storage
There’s 2GB of RAM and storage models of 16 or 32GB for the Nexus 5, but this is not expandable. The Xperia T2 Ultra has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD to 32GB.

Camera set-up
The Nexus 5 has an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, optical image stabilization and 1080p video capture, as well as a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The Xperia T2 Ultra has a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and 1080p video capture and a 1.1-megapixel front-facing unit.

Battery
The Nexus 5 has a 2300 mAh battery while the Xperia T2 Ultra has a 3000 mAh battery. Both are non-removable.

Connectivity
Both phones support 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, microUSB 2.0, GPRS and EDGE. The Nexus 5 has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac while the Xperia T2 Ultra has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n.

Operating System
One of the appeals of Nexus devices is that they run pure vanilla Android, and the Nexus 5 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The Xperia T2 Ultra released on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean skinned with Sony’s Bravia Engine 2, and will be upgradable to Android 4.4.2 at some stage.

Dimensions and Weight
The Nexus 5 measures 137.9mm x 69.2mm x 8.6mm and weighs 130g. The Xperia T2 Ultra measures 165.2mm x 83.8mm x 7.7mm and weighs around 172g dependant on model.

Obviously the design factor will play a part in any decision between these two smartphones as well as preference of screen size, and we haven’t accounted for all of the many features for each handset. However, on specs alone the Nexus 5 holds up well against the newer Xperia T2 Ultra.

The Nexus 5 has a better processor set-up, a higher resolution display, more RAM and internal storage, optical image stabilization for its camera, and is much lighter. On the other hand the Xperia T2 Ultra has a larger display (although this makes it bulkier), a higher-megapixel rear camera (yes we know megapixels aren’t everything), and a higher capacity battery.

We’d like to know what you think about these two smartphones. Have you been considering buying either of them, and if so which will it be, the Google Nexus 5 or the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra?

At least here in Brazil, the nexus still costs more than the T2 although it is a bit older. As for me, I’m considering buying Sony’s device because of its screen size (I spend about almost 4h a day commuting in a train, so watching films is a great deal to me) and battery (not havin to charge after watching a whole movie when I get to work sounds really great). Obviously the Nexus looks great with all that hardware, but, for the use I intend to make, both would do fine and the T2 is both bigger and cheaper. If it wasn’t so, I’d be having trouble choosing between them.

    Yes, I have Nexus 5.
And it is far better than Sony ultra T2.
There are many things in N5…..to beat T2.
The screen size and all that is not so important.
We need clarity in movies, we need a faster performance.
The N5 is superfast & high resolution.
I don’t want to wait after clicking on anywhere on screen
    I need quick response.
Yes the battery is not perform as we wish. But it’s not bad also.
The battery issue will not be stable for long time bcoz
Google going to solve this issue in coming update.
So it is the best device ever.
Where the money matter, you will not get the features in
    other device.

My Nexus 5 is much better as compare to Xperia T2 in most of the specs whether I consider about its 2.3GHz Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM for smooth operation of apps. However, it has smaller 2300mAh battery but not an issue as I recently purchased a wireless charger for it from Amazon
    www .amazon .com/dp/B00DDTZN4S
to keep my device fully charged all the time in order to explore more apps and stay
    connected with the world.
