The ASUS VivoTab 8 announced as budget-friendly Windows 8.1 slate

#

This morning we told you about a new tablet from Dell, but there’s another new 8-incher from ASUS that was announced a few days back. If you’re in the market for a Windows slate, it’s certainly worth a look and it’s called the ASUS VivoTab 8.

ASUS has cranked out countless Android tablets, and the ASUS VivoTab 8 is their first Windows 8.1 slate. The VivoTab 8 specs show an 8-inch LED IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800. The tablet is powered with a 64-bit Atom Z3745 that’s clocked at 1.8GHz, and the RAM will vary by region so you’ll get either 1GB or 2GB depending on your locale.

The ASUS VivoTab 8 will come with 32GB  of internal storage, and you can add an additional 64GB of space with a microSD card. ASUS is kicking in 5GB’s worth of “lifetime” storage on the cloud as well, and you’ll get an extra 11GB for free the first year. On the downside, the camera combo is weak at 2MP/2MP. Connectivity options for the ASUS VivoTab 8 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS while a 15.2Wh battery will help keep the lights on.

As with a lot of upcoming tech, we haven’t received a release date or price on the ASUS VivoTab 8 yet. When it does arrive, you’ll be able to snag one in Black, White, Blue or the oh so popular Gold. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you in the loop on the ASUS VivoTab 8.
