Meet the Motorola Droid Turbo, aka the mini Nexus 6

#

Smartphone season is coming to a close as most of the big devices have already been announced or released. The Motorola Droid Turbo may be the last true flagship of 2014 from a major manufacturer, and it’s a device you’ll want to own if you’re with Verizon. Today they finally made things official, and it’s just as awesome as we expected.

We’ve covered the Droid Turbo specs at length, but we’re going to go over them again now that it’s official. The Turbo features a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED QHD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440. It’s sharp, but also fast thanks to a 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 and 3GB of RAM. It’s also going to take outstanding pictures with its 21MP rear camera.

One of the big selling points for the Motorola Droid Turbo is the battery. It has a huge 3,990mAh battery with quick charging that can take a battery from dead to 8 hours of use with a 15-minute charge. You can also expect some cool software features from the Droid Turbo like Moto Display and Zap to TV. The device will run KitKat 4.4, but will get an upgrade to Lollipop. That said, it’s Verizon so you may have to wait a while as they are notoriously slow.

The Motorola Droid Turbo will be ready to roll on October 30th online and from Verizon stores. You can pick one up the 32GB model on a 2-year stint for $199 or $25 a month via Edge. The 64GB Black “Ballistic Nylon” edition will go for $249 or $27 a month if you’re looking for something with a bit more stylish.

What do you think about the Motorola Droid Turbo? Is it it an awesome exclusive from Verizon or is it really just what the Nexus 6 should have been?
