Nexus 6 review choices and verdicts

#

The Motorola-made Google Nexus 6 is one of the handset arrivals of the year, and it offers Android device enthusiasts a great set of specs. This year the new Nexus smartphone has stepped firmly up to phablet size and as well as a larger display it has a higher price to match. If you’re still deliberating whether to purchase it or not, the Nexus 6 review choice and verdicts that we have for you today could help you out.

We’ve already written a ton about the Nexus 6 including comparisons with other handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and Moto X (2014), specs, case accessories and more. You can check out any of those earlier articles here, but sometimes to get an all-round idea of a new device it can be useful to check out a video review. We’ve rounded up some of the top ones here today and they are embedded below this article for your viewing pleasure.

Rather than show one video we’ve selected three of the very best that we’ve found. This can be a good idea as it can be valuable to get some different perspectives on a device. The first of the YouTube videos we are sharing comes from Phone Arena and is a comprehensive 14-minute review. In the introduction the reviewer reiterates that this year’s Nexus phone arrival is a much more premium offering than last year’s Nexus 5, and then goes on to show the design is very much like a larger version of the Moto X.

Many other facets of the phone are then discussed, such as the display, the Android 5.0 Lollipop experience, processor and performance, audio quality, camera capabilities, battery life, price and more. The reviewer also points out the benefits of Nexus devices receiving speedy updates and the verdict is that the Nexus 6 is a great all-round phone. There are some minor reservations, as you’ll hear in the video, but ultimately the reviewer says, “you’re not going to be disappointed” by what the Nexus 6 has to offer.

The second YouTube review we have for you is from Pocketnow, and offers an alternative perusal of the Nexus 6 with some useful insight. At the beginning the phone is described as “the boldest Nexus yet,” and then as you would expect the review goes on to cover many of the same aspects as the first review. There’s another look at the software and it’s noted that there is sometimes lag and stutter, disheartening for a stock Android experience.

For the camera there’s a look at some image samples and video footage, and then call quality and battery performance is discussed. In the wrap-up the Nexus 6 is described as a “mixed bag.” It has a great specs sheet and there’s positivity for Android Lollipop, but the battery life doesn’t live up to expectations and there are some other minor flaws. In the eventual conclusion we hear that the Nexus 6 is a “solid buy” and worthy of being the new Nexus phone.

The final YouTube video in our selection comes from one of the most popular video reviewers out there, the redoubtable Marques Brownlee. It’s a 17-minute review that’s received not far off a million hits so far, so get ready for plenty of useful information! It covers the various factors of the other reviews, giving another viewpoint of the phone, and the camera gets a big thumbs-up and receives “the most improved” award when compared to previous Nexus handsets. Ultimately it’s felt that the Nexus 6 is the best buy for real Android purists, but that it’s not the best Quad HD phone out there.

We found that all of these videos offered some interesting takes on the Nexus 6 and hope you find them helpful. After you’ve had time to watch the reviews below we’d really appreciate your comments. Were you in two minds over whether to purchase the Nexus 6? Has what you’ve seen and heard in these reviews convinced you that this latest Google Nexus phone is the right choice for you?
