Fresh Xiaomi Mi5 images show svelte handset

#

There’s a lot of interest in the follow-up to the Xiaomi Mi4 flagship in the shape of the Mi5. The phone has already been the subject of leaks and rumored specs and now some fresh Xiaomi Mi5 images have leaked that show us a better look of the design.

In the previous leaked photos of the Mi5 that we showed readers, it wasn’t easy to get an idea of the profile of the handset, but from what we could see we could tell it has an elongated look and virtually no bezels. The new leaked images purported to be of the device now show us that it’s an extremely slim handset that looks sleek and nicely stylish with a metallic casing.

These images come from a Chinese tech site so we should remember we can not verify whether these are the real deal or not. If they are the Xiaomi Mi5 though, we can imagine that many potential buyers will be happy with what they’re seeing. There are no official specs available yet, though there has been plenty of speculation about this.

The Xiaomi Mi5 is claimed to have a Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor, Adreno 430 graphics, and a 5.7-inch display with Quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560. It’s likely to have 3 or 4GB of RAM, and the rear camera is thought to have 20.7-megapixel Sony Exmor sensor, and the off-contract price is said to be around $325. That equates to around £208 or Rs. 20,115, although prices are likely to vary by market.

Fortunately there shouldn’t be too much longer to wait until all is officially revealed. It’s possible that the phone could be unveiled at CES 2015 taking place in Las Vegas in January, so we could be only weeks away from knowing confirmed specs, price and that all-important release date.

It looks as though Xiaomi is making great advances in the smartphone world, in what has been a relatively short amount of time. There’s no doubt that its competitive pricing strategy has a big part to play in that. What do you think of this latest look at what is allegedly the Xiaomi Mi5?
