New Asus Zenfone leaks through Bluetooth certification

#

The FCC, TENAA and Bluetooth SIG generally give us a quick glimpse at upcoming smartphones on their way to retail shelves and online shops. Normally we’d don’t get much information from the Bluetooth side of things, but that isn’t the case with what looks to be a new Asus Zenfone.

Asus is expected to announce a new Zenfone in the near future, and the Bluetooth SIG listing shows a device with the model number ZC451CG. The listing also describes it as “the successor of hot selling smartphone model Zenfone.” We’re unsure if it’s the same phone that the company recently teased, but we hope not as it’s a mid-range handset at best.

The Asus AC451CG is shown to be a 4.5-inch device with a resolution of 480 x 854. It will have a dual-core Intel chip and 1GB of RAM, but there’s no mention of internal storage. The battery is listed at 2,100mAh, and the smartphone will have a 5MP rear camera with an 0.3MP snapper on the front. No other specs were listed, and there was no mention of a dual-camera like the one previously teased by the company. The phrasing used for the cameras is odd, but read into that what you will.

For now, the Asus Zenfone Z007 is a mystery, but one that comes with mid-range specs. The spiel from the company about it being the “successor” to the Zenfone may be an error or marketing speak as the Bluetooth SIG info doesn’t point towards anything of the kind.
