New Sprint trade-in promo offers $200 credit to T-Mobile customers

#

We don’t cover Sprint as much as T-Mob or Big Red, but the little carrier that could is taking a direct shot at one of its competitors today. T-Mobile is in its sights, and Sprint is increasing the amount they’ll give you on a trade-in when you switch from The Uncarrier.

Sprint’s deal is pretty straightforward as they are offering T-Mobile customers $200 bucks in cold hard cash if they sign-up with Sprint and trade in their old smartphone. What’s more, the company will pay off up to $350 on any additional payments you owe on the phone when you switch your service over. The offer is obviously only good for customers coming in from T-Mobile, so you’re out of luck on this particular deal if you’re on Verizon,  AT&T or any other carrier in the states.

On a related note, Compass Intelligence announced Sprint as having the best trade-in program for the fourth year in a row. Last year, the company bought back over 3 million handsets, and managed to send about 80% of those back into the world as refurbished units. With the new $200 trade-in promo, it looks like they are getting a head start on this year’s award as well.

Sprint and T-Mobile generally don’t fire shots at each other, so it’s interesting to see Sprint take on carrier a little closer to its size instead of going after Verizon or AT&T. As far as the fine print is concerned, it says “any current working T-Mobile smartphone” is eligible which is nice to hear if you have an ancient handset. The promo is good from now until April 9th if you’re interesting in switching to Sprint.
