The Elephone G9 isn’t a handset that’s going to be mistaken for the Galaxy S6 or Xperia Z4. It’s a simple looking smartphone that’s more than a bit reminiscent of the Moto G, but a quite a bit cheaper. That can be a good or bad depending on how you feel about horsepower.

Elephone decided to go small with the Elephone G9, so it features a 4.5-inch FWVGA panel inside its plastic housing. Beneath the glass beats a 64-bit MediaTek MT6735M chip clocked at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of RAM. All the usual connectivity options are present along with 4G LTE, and even though it’s budget, you’ll get an 8MP snapper on the back to go along with a 2MP camera on the front. The Elephone G9 is powered by a 1,750mAh battery, and runs Android 5.1 out of the box.

If you’re interested in the Elephone G9, the smartphone is up for “pre-sale” which a nice price of $84.99 on Elephone.hk. The price is listed as only being good from May 11th — May 30th, so you’ve got some time to decide if the Elephone G9 is the right phone for you.
