Another day, another benchmark listing. Today a device dubbed the Meizu NIUX has appeared through a new benchmark listing, and you might be surprised at the chip under the hood.

A new smartphone called the Meizu NIUX recently rolled through the benchmark tests over at AnTuTu where it was spotted by some sleuthy folks. It doesn’t sport the usual MediaTek chip we’re using to seeing from the company and there’s not a Snapdragon in sight. Instead, the Meizu NIUX will run off a new Exynos chip from Sammy which could make it one to watch.

According to the benchmarks, the Meizu NIUX specs show a handset with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080… but we don’t yet know the size of the display. The processor is listed as an Exynos 7420, which comes with the Mali-T760 GPU and is backed by 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB of internal storage, and the rear camera clocks in at 21MP while the selfie-snapper utilizes a 5MP sensor. As you might suspect, the Meizu NIUX was tested running Android 5.1.

While the usual specs are missing from the benchmarks including the sensors and connectivity options, we have a good idea of what to expect from the device if it’s legit. The specs would put it on par with 2015 flagships, but it’s too early to slap that moniker on the Meizu NIUX until we learn more about the features.

In a fun twist, the Meizu NIUX is said to be a lower version of the handset as there’s a higher-spec’d version of the same device in the works as well. If that’s the case, it will probably have 4GB of RAM and could see a chip switch along with a higher resolution display.
