ZUK Z2 price and specifications are official

#

Lenovo has unleashed the beast at an event in China today with the unveiling of the ZUK Z2 smartphone. While we saw the handset coming a mile away, we’re going to take another look at the ZUK Z2 specs now that everything has become official.

While plenty of folks still don’t know what a “ZUK” is, the Lenovo-based brand made a nice splash last year with their first line of handsets. It was only natural to expect a sequel given the previous device’s success, and it appears that ZUK has delivered a nice one with the ZUK Z2 release. It is missing a few key features that keep it out of the proper flagship class but is still loaded down and well worth a look given its price tag.

The ZUK Z2 is a bit smaller than many expected as it will feature a 5-inch 2.5D FHD display which is a nice change of pace given the popularity of phablets. The power will come from 2016’s chip of choice in the Snapdragon 820, but will be helped along with 4GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the handset has far more space than most handset out of the box with 64GB.

On the backside of the ZUK Z2, you’ll find a 13MP sensor with an LED flash, PDAF and Dual-Mode Focus while the front-facing camera clocks in at 8MP. A full array of connectivity options are present as well with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, 4G LTE, GPS, a USB Type-C charging port, and a fingerprint scanner. The Dual-SIM device is listed as running Android 6.0 with ZUI 2.0 on top and is powered by a 3,500mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

As you might suspect, China will be the first region to receive the ZUK Z2 release and it will carry a price of 1,799 YUAN which equates to around $275 bucks in the states. There’s been no word on an international launch at this time, but we expect that to change soon.
