Galaxy S7 Edge pink line issue picks up steam

#

Will it ever end for Samsung? While they just revealed their findings on the Note 7, there is news of a Galaxy S7 Edge pink line issue making the rounds today. It’s actually nothing new, but something that more users seem to be experiencing as we creep towards MWC 2017.

Samsung had an interesting 2016 and that is putting it mildly. While we won’t rehash the Note 7 drama, another handset from that class is starting to have some problems. Hundreds of users have reported a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge pink line issue with their handset which consists of a pink line running horizontally down the display. As you can see from the photo, that’s not something you would want to encounter on a $700 smartphone.

Users in Samsung’s forums, on Reddit and from various spots around the net have started showing off photos of the lovely S7 Edge. Normally we like glamor shots, but these all show a pink line running top to bottom through the display. The angry pixels appear to be in the same spot as well, which means there “could” be a hardware issue at play unless it’s something truly funky on the software side. As an owner of the S6 Edge Plus, I can attest to some wild things happening as my phone has gotten older, but no pink lines thus far.

Galaxy S7 Edge Pink Line

As for a fix for the Galaxy S7 Edge pink line issue, nobody seems to have one at this time. There are threads going back several months with users reporting the Pink line of death, and most users opted to talk to a tech or turn to a repair center. The results are reportedly mixed either way you go, with some folks saying they were took care of quickly while others have had a tougher time of things. While this issue doesn’t involve any flaming handsets, there are more than enough users reporting it for Samsung to sit up and take attention.

If today was the first we had heard of the Galaxy S7 Edge pink line issue, we’d be willing to chalk it up to some negative buzz before the S8 hits the streets. Considering people have been fussing about the problem long before CES, there could certainly an issue with the display going on. We’ll keep you in the loop on this one if Samsung decides to issue a statement or things pick up steam.

Have you experienced any pink lines on your Galaxy S7 Edge?
