HTC U12 rumors!

#

HTC is still struggling to come back to the top, mainly thanks to their recent flagships. The HTC U11, although a good device, still didn’t impress most of the customers to spend their money on it. It didn’t offer anything new or innovative, while it did cut back on some useful features. HTC teased a reveal date across their social media accounts, hinting something at 23rd May. Many rumors suggest that this is the date when the HTC U12 will be revealed, and we have some details about it. Let’s take a look at the rumors!

Design

As with the HTC U11, the new HTC U12 should also have a glass back design. It should probably still have the same curved back, and it will definitely have a premium look and feel in the hand. On the front, rumors suggest that the device will feature a 6” LCD display. It will have WQHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. This could be a big step-up from the U11, since that one had a 5.5” display with 16:9 aspect ratio. The bigger aspect ratio means for a taller screen and smaller bezels – a feature that HTC should finally implement.

Features

On the performance side, we’re expecting the best that is available right now. Starting with the chipset, the HTC U12 should come with the Snapdragon 845 processor. The latest and greatest from Snapdragon will run every task you throw at it, no matter how hungry for power it is. Additionally, the processor should be paired with 6GB of RAM. That should also satisfy even the most notorious multitaskers, giving you enough space to run all of your apps at the same time. Speaking of memory, the U12 should pack in 64 and 128GB of internal storage. That is more than enough for storing all of your files, with a microSD card slot expansion also available. Finally, the rumors suggest that the device will feature a 3420mAh battery. It should easily last you through a day.

Going on to the cameras, the HTC U12 will finally jump on the dual camera wagon. From the leaks and rumors, the device should feature a 12MP + 16MP combo on the back. We don’t know what the second sensor will be used for, but we’re hoping for a wide-angle one. As a surprise, the rumors suggest that a dual camera setup will also be available on the front. Therefore, we’re sure that this one will be used as the Portrait mode one. All cameras should be great, and we cannot wait for the device to be released to test them out thoroughly.

Finishing with the software, the device will come with Android Oreo out of the box. It is going to be skinned using HTC Sense, which is pretty similar to stock Android. Edge Sense will probably also see a comeback, as the feature have proved to be used a lot, especially in the Pixel 2.

Pricing and availability

As I’ve noted before, the device is expected to be revealed on May 23rd. For now, there are no rumors about the pricing yet.
