Android Honeycomb May Arrive on Smartphones With HTC Revolver

As you probably know, the latest Android operating system from the Google guys is Android 3.0 Honeycomb and is reportedly a tablet specific operating system and won’t be headed for smartphones: however apparently this may not be the case.

According to an article over on the Boy Genius Report, the guys over at Engadget came up with an image of the HTC Revolver along with a few of the handset’s specs, which includes a 4.3 inch capacitive LCD touch screen along with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 8 megapixel camera and 3 megapixel front facing camera, 3G+, and 16GB storage.

Now the shocker with this list of specs is that the operating system is listed as Android Honeycomb. So taking this on face value, either it’s a fake, or we just might see Android Honeycomb coming to smartphones in the not too distant future.

Furthermore, that not too distant future could be Q3 and will be heading to the AT&T network, as Engadget’s tipster mentions that a “coming soon” image should pop up on the AT&T website sometime in spring, but there’s no word on and pricing or release date.

The supposed next OS destined for smartphones is rumoured to be Android Ice Cream, but if we go with the HTC Revolver image we can expect Android Honeycomb in some form or another. So what do you reckon, will Honeycomb come to smartphones eventually?
