Android Ice Cream Sandwich not coming to LG Optimus 2x

Phones Review Quickie: If you are an owner of the LG Optimus 2x smartphone otherwise known as the T-Mobile G2X and were hoping that your handset would eventually get updated to the latest Android operating system from the Google guys, Android Ice Cream Sandwich, it appears that your hopes of said upgrade has been dashed.

According to a report on Slash Gear by way of Google+, apparently when asked the question on Facebook, “ IS the lg optimus 2x eligible for a android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich software upgrade?” the response from the firms Indian Facebook page was…

“We will not be introducing Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich updates on LG Optimus 2X P990. Keep watching this space for further updates.”

Thus it would appear that owners of the LG Optimus 2x wont be getting updated to Android 4.0 now or in the future, which no doubt will be quite a disappointment for said owners, and apparently LG Optimus 2x owners are still waiting to get the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.

I figure the only option for those LG Optimus 2x users that are disappointed at not getting Android Ice Cream Sandwich is to opt for another smartphone when the time comes, perhaps another Android handset that doesn’t come from LG of which there are many of course.

If you are one of our readers that own the LG Optimus 2x and are annoyed at LG’s decision, then feel free to voice your wrath to our comments area below.

This is LG setting the stage to release the Optimus LTE (aka Eye in Canada).  It’s specs outclass the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and it bosts a higher PPI than the Iphone 5.  LG is going to go all-in on this phone.

Its absurd! They need to do something for consumers that took a chance on their products but at the end, be stabbed in the back by LG. Can I say bad business……

I like the phone, but it sure has its problems. If LG wont stand behind this one and make it right then they will not get any more of my business in the future, be it cell phone or other products. I hope that every person that has one gets a bypasses LG next time.

This is outrageous. LG made a pretty good hardware on this phone but NEVER released a decently coupled OS to explore its power. I wont be fooled by hardware specs next time and will get a Samsung instead.

The phone’s design and materials are A+. Bought the phone because it’s supposedly future proof with its Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset. Now that I’ve seen this, I’ll prolly call my carrier and ask to change my phone with a Samsung.

If this is true i will NEVER EVER buy ANY of LG’s products again.
