Imagination Technologies has announced an “international electronics systemscompany” has linked a “multi-year, multi-use license” extension which enables the firm to access its broad portfolio of current and future PowerVR graphics and video IP cores.

As this “electronics system company” is both a “new partner” and not a chipmaker one can determine that this strongly suggest that the unnamed company is more than likely to be Apple.

Apple are known for doing exactly whatever they please, and with this attitude has rejected an up and coming iPhone app, and the reason they give is the app supplies “limited utility”

Ok I’ll give you that the Pull My Finger iPhone app does little more than fart, but is seems that Apples rejection is somewhat of a disturbing move, and sets a precedent for Apple to reject other iPhone apps it simple doesn’t like.

Pull My Finger’s developer, Victor Wang has posted Apples rejection letter as follows…

“Hello Developer,

We’ve reviewed your application Pull My Finger. We have determined that this application is of limited utility to the broad iPhone and iPod touch user community, and will not be published to the App Store.

It may be very appropriate to share with friends and family, and we recommend you review the Ad Hoc method on the Distribution tab of the iPhone Developer Portal for details on distributing this application among a small group of people of your choosing.

Regards,
Victor Wang
Worldwide Developer Relations
Apple, Inc.”

Still the video made me giggle.

When the Apple App Store launched we have seen a steady stream of apps that are business orientated hit the store, most of these being 3rd-party start-ups, but now some of the big name software vendors are also wanting a piece of the action.

Oracle, Sybase, and SAO have all released Apple iPhone 3G business apps which allow iPhoners to access some of that functionality afforded the more traditional desktop versions, and most of these can be found at the App Store.

According to research company Gartner, the Apple iPhone 3G “does not deliver sufficient security for custom applications.” So those businesses wishing to deploy apps will have to bear with this low security.

However, ZDNet Asia has taken a look at five enterprise apps that the software big guys are hoping to catch the attention of the business carrying iPhoner: Sybase iAnywhere Mobile Office; SAP; Oracle Business Indicators; Web-based apps: Netsuite, SugarCRM, Zoho; and Salesforce.com Mobile.

3G usage in the United States is now surpassing that of Western Europe so it doesn’t surprise when we hear that the US mobile internet usage has increased by virtually a third in 08.

According to Crisp Wireless the increased mobile internet traffic note the some of these trends… Sports fans check scores and highlights during their favourite games, with highest traffic on evenings and weekends. Local news is viewed mostly in the morning, while national news is viewed continuously throughout day. Visits per unique visitor increased marginally from 2.02 visits per unique visitor in 1Q08 to 2.06 in 2Q8.

Furthermore: Women visit the mobile web late at night and early in the week mirroring their online habits; and young girls are browsing late night, especially on the weekend. Users typing property or site names drove 28.9% of search engine traffic. Average page views per visit decreased slightly from 3.96 in 1Q08 to 3.77 in 2Q08. For sites that have an on-deck presence on all 3 major carriers, carrier decks are driving 45.74% of overall traffic; which is down from 53.4% in Q1 2008.
With more and more 3G mobile phones becoming available mobile internet access is on the increase.

Unfortunately the original release of Spore Origins was only compatible with the Apple iPod, even worse was the fact that Spore Origins does not bring character transfer or online gaming.

Spore Origins is expected to hit Apple App Store this week at a price of $5.00. If Spore Origins were more integrated into the Spore parent game it would probably have a potential larger audience. However, as it is we’ll just have to wait and see just how well it performs against the competition.

Based on Apple’s open source rendering engine Webkit, Google’s latest project is a web browser called Chrome. Designed to put the user experience in line with advanced features, it looks as if Google’s Chrome is ready to set ablaze the web browser stage.

According to Sergey Brin: “Probably a subsequent version of Android is going to pick up a lot of the Chrome stack… My guess is we’ll have ‘Chrome-like’ or something similar.”

With the eventual integration of Google Chrome into Google Android it could result in truly portable cross platform applications.

Apps using Google’s App Engine could well be ported to both mobile and desktop versions of Google Chrome, thus developers will be able to see their apps running quite smoothly on both mobile and desktop fronts.

The mobile phone wars continue on relentlessly with no truce in sight, and now HTC has some real heavyweight firepower backing up their Touch Diamond with the HTC Touch Pro both aimed at dominating the Windows Mobile world.

The HTC Touch Pro is an all-rounder mobile phone with navigation and multimedia as just a part of its arsenal; a mobile handset that holds the premise to become the most complete Windows Mobile powered handset to date.

The closes spec sheet to the HTC Touch Pro is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, and they both run Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. Now if you take into consideration that HTC manufacture both the Touch Pro and the Xperia X1, they could be considered close clones.

How would you like the Palm Centro smartphone in a lime or Rose colour? Well, well if either of these funky colour’s whet your appetite and you are on the Sprint network you could get your hands on one next month.

We must say that the Palm Centro must be hugely successful if it’s already producing the same smartphone in a variety of colours! Motorola has been a role model, when showing off the success of a handset by producing several colours - take the original Motorola RAZR for instance.

So if you don’t want to go for the original Palm Centro colour, then these two new colours maybe just perfect for you.

The latest mobile phone from Fly Mobile, the E310 Attitude has passed through the FCC’s testing phase. The E310 Attitudes has a neo-Chocolate look to it albeit a cheap version.

It is a tad difficult to tell just from the clinical shot from the FCC if the Fly Mobile E310 Attitude will actually have and attitude and live up to its name or not.

But there is something that intrigues about the E310 Attitude, maybe the hidden D-pad below the display that looks fairly thick for the low cost market Fly is targeting. Still with a 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, integrated FM radio and microSD it can’t be too bad.

Well they are all at it now, Sony Erricsson’s have now joined the companies all trying to compete with the Apple iPhone 3G, they have announced the UK final release dates on their Sony Ericsson’s X1 Xperia Smartfone which gets SDK.

It was anticipated that Sony Ericsson would release the X1 smartphone very soon, and the date confirmed is October for the UK.

Plus SDK, which you can download from Sony’s own developers site has been pushed out the door in the US and Germany, this software will enable developers to add more functions to Windows Mobile. SDK will come with an emulator allowing developers to test panels from the computers, so good news all round.

Well in true catwalk style we see the iPhone 3G sporting a rather fetching Dior Homme jacket. Seriously the style guru’s at Dior Homme have created a luxury holder for your iPhone 3G. Well if you are going to get dressed up to go out, then why shouldn’t you treat your iPhone with the same respect.

Ok, you may need to be wealthy to shed out the $450 for the luxury holder, but if you want to stand out from the crowd and shout quality then why not! Spending that sort of money on an iPhone accessory is not in everyone’s reach but if you’re rich enough or crazy enough to purchase this sleek elegant holder made from finest calf leather, then go for it.

The case also fits the original i-Phone as well as the iPhone 3G and you can purchase from Dior Homme worldwide as part of the Dior Homme’s exclusive Black Tie Collection.
