Google Nexus S Contour Display Not Gorilla Glass

If you are an owner of the new Samsung made Google Nexus S smartphone and have been thinking along the lines of because the Nexus S is manufactured by Samsung it’ll have a tough display just like the Samsung Galaxy S then you’re mistaken because apparently the Contour Display isn’t.

According to an article over on Engadget Mobile by Chris Ziegler, by way of Geekword, Samsung Services has announced the official word on the matter via their Twitter account stating…”@Corning I have confirmed that the Nexus S is not Gorilla Glass. ^Sabrina”

So there it is which means owners shouldn’t try a key scratch test or go poking the Nexus S display with anything else as the Google Nexus S Contour Display isn’t as tough as the Super AMOLED display on the Samsung Galaxy S.

Apparently no reason for the change has been given but one could presume that due to the curvature of the Contour Display Gorilla Glass couldn’t be used, or perhaps there is a problem with manufacturing enough fast enough.

So now knowing that the Google Nexus S doesn’t have Gorilla Glass, will this put some off purchasing the Android 2.3 Gingerbread device, or doesn’t Gorilla glass make that much difference when buying a smartphone?
