HP TouchPad Playing Nice With Android: Video

Okay as the whole mobile world seems to have gone HP TouchPad crazy over the last couple of days due to HP killing of the webOS slate, which for some reason has made the tablet highly desirable, what we have for your viewing consideration below is a video of Android running on the HP TouchPad, and this isn’t the project that is currently being worked on to bring Android Gingerbread to the TouchPad.

The HP TouchPad with Android video comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Phone Arena by way of Netbook Italia, and YouTube user Msacra that lasts just over a minute and has Android 2.2 Froyo running on the slate.

Now here’s the thing, apparently this guy took advantage of the sale price of the HP TouchPad and purchase the slate from Best Buy for $99 and when he fired the device up found that the tablet came with Froyo already installed.

Of course there is always a chance that this is some kind of face, and to be perfectly honest I think it might be, why? Well because the blurb on the video pages claims the HP TouchPad purchased from Best Buy and running Froyo is a 32GB version.

On checking I believe that a 32GB HP TouchPad actually costs $149.99 from Best Buy and not the quoted $99, a price which is for the 16GB model, so either they have made a mistake with the GB or price, which could be genuine enough I suppose, but if they are claiming that the 32GB HP TouchPad cost 99 bucks then they are wrong.

I also have to say that the back of the tablet looks a little suspect to me, but if true then there’s no info on just how this Android running HP TouchPad made it to market, but does show that the TouchPad should be able to run Android in the future.

Anyway, I’ll leave it right there and let you head on down to mash that play button to check out the footage for yourself, and feel free to voice your opinions s to whether you feel this is genuine or not…enjoy.
