Not so exciting BlackBerry Curve 9320 OS 7.1 smartphone

Well for the ardent BlackBerry faithful out there, Research In Motion has now finally got round to officially announcing the BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone, although obviously not a handset that is likely to turn RIM’s fortunes around, as the handset comes with BlackBerry OS 7.1.

According to the guys over at Engadget, the BlackBerry Curve 9320 specs are basically what most have expected and include, a 2.44-inch display of the non-touch variety, QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2 megapixel camera, FM radio, the new Social Feeds app pre-installed, 512MB eMMC, a 1450Ah battery and weighs in at 103 grams.

The BlackBerry Curve 9320 does come with BlackBerry OS 7.1 aboard though along with a dedicated BlackBerry Messenger key on its side, and microSD expansion.

The EVP of smartphone business at Research In Motion, Carlo Chiarello has said that the BlackBerry Curve 9320 has been designed to make it incredibly easy for users to stay socially connected, and will be popular with customers upgrading to a smartphone for the first time.

As the BlackBerry Curve 9320 comes with BlackBerry OS 7.1, the device will of course support Mobile Hotspot and WiFi calling, along with parental controls that delivers simple options for protecting kids by restricting access to certain features and functions.

Obviously Research In Motion has only just announced the smartphone, so there’s no word on just when or where the handset will be available or how much the BlackBerry Curve 9320 will hit the pocket for.

It’s fairly doubtful, but do any of our BlackBerry fan readers out there find the BlackBerry Curve 9320 a device worth getting excited about?
