AT&T iPhone 3G 3.1 OS major issues after install

Upon install of OS 3.1, my iPhone randomly freezes once it is placed in standby mode (pushing the sleep button at top of phone).

This occurs, on average, once or twice daily. I have tried every fix available short of visiting an Apple store.

I am choosing not to do this simply because it seems to be a software issue with 3.1 being that I was not having any problems whatsoever with my iPhone before OS 3.1. I am eagerly awaiting confirmation and a fix from the Apple team and I am sure we will get one, if not both very soon.
