It’s a well-known fact that Samsung has turned to 64-bit processors for a large part of its 2015 lineup, and we’ve covered a dozen handsets that are set to debut with the new chips. We haven’t heard much on the tablet front, but we’ve recently learned that some of Sammy’s 2015 slates will be 64-bit as well.

We have seen at lot of smartphones making their first appearance through GFXBench, and this time its two new slates with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1. Both look to be refreshes of last year’s tablets by the same name, but both the 10.1 (SM-T533) and Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 (SM-T333) will sport Snapdragon 410’s under the hood.

If you’re wondering about the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, it’s getting upgraded as well although you won’t find a Qualcomm chip under the hood. The upcoming slate will carry the model number SM-T239 and is thought to be powered by a Marvell Armada PXA1908 instead of the Snapdragon 410. It’s also rumored to be called the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Lite 7.0 LTE because Samsung likes long names.

Samsung loves its tablet lineup, and while the Galaxy Tab 4 series will be mid-rangers, it’s good to see them getting 64-bit chips ahead of Android 5.0. It’s never bad to have a future proof tablet, even if the specs are a little on the weak side. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you in the loop on Sammy’s new slates as we learn more.
