Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Apple, Research In Motion, Samsung, Motorola and others have agreed to back a Europe wide standard mobile phone charger the European Commission has announced according to a report on Yahoo.tech.

This agreement means mobile handsets compatible with standard charging devices will become available as of next year in Europe.

The European Commission has said this agreement will create an EU norm and new generation mobile phones will use a standard microUSB socket to enable compatibility and said chargers will be usable for data enabled mobile phones only.
