Top 5 Mark Twain Books via apps

Famous American author Mark Twain best known for his novels “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” is today being remembered with what would have been his 176th birthday.

Available from here, there are a variety of books via apps to choose from, of which we picked five with a brief description of each.

First up has to be the “Adventures of Huckleberry” as an eBook on Apple’s iPhone device. Advertised with a special price of £1.49, the new app will engross you in one of America’s finest novels. Told by “Huck” Finn, best friend of Tom Sawyer, the storyline tells of various people and places along the famous Mississippi River on which Huck and his friend Jim (a runaway slave) travel on their built raft.

Next up for us is the collection of Mark Twain Quotes for a price of £0.69. Browsing through a collection of some 200 key quotes, users of the app can pick their favourite(s) with a display showing on the screen. This is an app that cannot be missed for true avid Mark Twain fans.

Our third option is that of The Prince and the Pauper app, a story set in 1547 that tells of two boys identical to look at, one a prince and one that lives in a violent household. Purely by accident, the two boys end up replacing one another and the story tells of their quest to live the life they have fallen into.

In fourth place is that of the Tom Sawyer, Detective by Mark Twain for a price of £1.49, which runs as a sequel to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer Abroad. Sawyer tries to solve a murder in mysterious circumstances equalling that of the popular detective novels at the time. Lastly but for a much higher price of £12.99, is the Autobiography of Mark Twain Vol 1, which can be read just as the author left it in all it’s entirety.
