Verizon iPhone Conference Calls Problem Found: Video

With all the fanfare and commotion over the arrival of the Verizon iPhone, one would expect the CDMA iPhone to come out to play without any real bugs, especially as the Big Red tout their network as better than rival iPhone carrier AT&T.

However, apparently the Verizon iPhone is not without its faults, as according to an article over on Unwired View by Brad Molen, the guys over at 9to5 Mac have discovered an issue with the Verizon iPhone is its ability to handle simultaneous multiple calls.

Apparently the problem is that the Verizon iPhone can’t connect in excess of three handsets into a conference call, so if you have 4 people trying to get in on a conference call one is out of luck, and also the device can’t swap calls as well.

Apparently though this problem isn’t widely reported yet so it could be just down to a software glitch. We have some video evidence of the problem courtesy of Mark Gurman of 9to5 Mac that demos the problem, so hit that play button and check it out.

If you manage to get hold of a Verizon iPhone and experience this issue feel free to shout out about it in our comments area below.

IM having the same issue. every time I get a incoming call while on the phone. I can swap out, but when I end the call it will end all the calls or it will not hang up even if the other person on the other line has ended the call. WTF?!

I am having a similar issue with Verizon iPhone. Previously on my ATT iPhone I had three options; Ignore, End -Answer or Hold-Answer. Now, with Verizon, I can only Ignore or Hold-Answer. I called Verizon and they indicated that they were not able purchase Verizon iPhones so they could not help. Now that's customer service for you! Anyone else seeing this issue with handling incoming calls?

Check the iphone users guide under phone 2nd call. It documents this.
Funny thing is Apple didn't know anything about it when I called and was willing to issue a new phone !

did you go in store or call the customer service number.. Because they told me that the phones are not able to do it at all. After I explained that it is possible on i phones.

This has been a limitation with CDMA networks ever since conference calling was introduced to cellular phones. Try it on your Droid, or Pre (for example) and you get the same identical capability.

    Nothing new here.

I knew I wasnt crazy I spent hours on the phone with verizon and the apple store today regarding conference calls and not having the ability 2 swap calls. if I get a call while on a prior call and answer it, the second party that hang up only causes my phone 2 b tied up because the phone think im on a multicaller call. In this instance my calls all go to voicemail or it ring on the callers end and not mine!!! Another thing I notice is the text messages. one long single text you could normally send in one text from an at&t iphone come in one piece, if u do it from verizon iphone u may end up sending 16 text messages depending on the legnth of ur paragraph!!! The iphone 4 with at&t has a dual network while u are on the phone u receive ur text messages as well as ur phone calls. verizon u may get some text messages but others will come through after ur initial phone conversation is complete (hung up)…. this need to b fixed I was with At&t for about 15 years.. I should had left well enough alone… I had every last iphone this is clearly not an apple problem as verizon tried to make it out 2 b…..apple was nice enough to set up an appointment with me 2 understand whats going on so they could fix the problem 4 me instore. hope this was helpfull because if u r like me u LOVE ur iphone
